16 - Crown

Asmeria stood in front of the wedding dress designer as she stared into space, her gaze on the dress. The designer just kept speaking and a word didn't reach Asmeria's ears. She doesn't know why she keeps hating this place with every single breath she was drawing in and every single one she was letting out. Deep down, she knew Thorian doesn't want to have anything to do with her. He was just doing all this so he could have fifty percent of Evander's custody and although she hasn't figured out what it was, she knew it was more than him just wanting an heir to take over the throne after Asannah couldn't give him a child. “My lady, do you like this design?” The designer pulled her out of her thoughts and she just pushed herself up from her seat with a nod. “You didn't look at it…” “Do you have a problem with your job?” Asmeria's head turned in her direction and she shook her head negatively before watching Asmeria step out of the hall. “Bunch of stupid people.” She lashed out as she walked down to the nearby balcony on the side of the corridor. The atmosphere in the room was choking her and she just needed some fresh air. Happiness has been really far from her since they got here and although she could see Evander loved this place because he had lots of people to keep his company, she still didn't want a life here at all no matter what. “Everyone is starting to think I forced you into this house.” Thorian's voice cane from behind and she turned to look at him with the look of hatred very evident in her expression. “What is wrong with you, Asmeria?” “You really want to know what's wrong with me, Thorian? You are wrong with me. Do you think you can just walk back into my life and get married to me in less than two weeks of my arrival here? Whatever it is you are planning against me would end up in total failure, Thorian.” She pointed out. “And aren't your forcing me to stay here? I am here against my will and you are abusing your power, you are blackmailing me to remain in this house.” “Don't worry too much about it.” He said in a low chuckle, pushing the loose strands of her hair back to his place with his expression gradually turning to a sinister grin. He grabbed her chin to make her look up at him forcefully. “You are with my son and I have equal rights over him. If you won't acknowledged that, you will be forced to when you become my wife legally and I can have him.” “You are a monster, Thorian.” Asmeria said through her gritted teeth and he threw his head back in laughter as he looked around the whole corridor like he was going to do something bad to her but he didn't do anything. “Do you think I'm just knowing that now? Everyone told me that right since I could remember and it doesn't really bother me when you say it either.” He replied before pushing her face away from his grip. “Just he a good girl or else, you'll have a taste of my worst.” “Evander is not even your child. Why waste your time and resources trapping us when you'll eventually find out he is not your child.” Asmeria said and he grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer to himself. “He is not your son.” “Shut up, Asmeria. Shut up.” He said through his gritted teeth, anger evident in his tone. “Do you think your petty lies would work on me? I'm your dreams young lady. If I heart those words from these lips again, you will face my wrath in the worst way possible.” Tears rolled down Asmeria's cheeks as she watched Thorian walk away with his guard reporting something to him. “It isn't your fault, Thorian. I'll make sure I get my son away from you. Protect him from you even if it is the last thing I'll do with my life.” She said, wiping the corner of her lips clean. “What are we going to do about him now?” My wolf asked me as I leaned back on the balcony, staring at the horizon. “You can't even keep an eye on him because his eyes are always on you even when you don't know.” “Do not remind me about the misery I currently am in.” Asmeria gritted her teeth as she looked down with a sigh. “Do you really think he has what it takes to bring Rolfe down? Rolfe has been forming alliances in the past years and you saw them yourself. He isn't one that should be underestimated no matter how many threats Thorian puts down to scare you out of your relationship with him, Asmeria.” Her wolf said but she didn't reply and just stared out. “Say something, Asmeria.” “What do you want me to say? That my opinion is very different from yours? If something happens to Rolfe if I act rashly, everything he worked for and spent his time building will come crashing down in a few seconds and I do not want that at all. I don't ever want to see it crash.” I replied and my wolf let out a sigh. “But remember, Asmeria. Your thoughts also matter. You know Thorian us using you and if you don't fight back, you'll find yourself trapped in a lifeless and loveless marriage for the rest of your life because Thorian would most definitely not leave Evander alone.” My wolf said and we both sighed in sync. “Momma.” Evander rushed over to her with a bright smile on his face and she could already tell he was enjoying himself. She squatted down to his position, wiping of the dust on his clothing. “Do you really want to get married to him.” His expression suddenly changed as I saw him stare at Thorian who was standing at the other end of the hall. “I liked uncle Rolfe more.” “Do not talk about Rolfe where others can hear you, okay?” Asmeria cautioned and he nodded his head gently. She needed to find a way to get things straight and get out of this trap he has blackmailed her into. Thorian walked back into his father's room with his hands in his pocket and his cold expression plastered on his face. The nurse hurriedly rushed away and he looked up at me. “I still don't believe hoh aren't dead now because you don't know how much I desire to see you dead physical.” Vanrad didn't say another and just coughed weakly. “I'm sorry I'm limiting you, I'll do better if I ever have a chance to make right of the things I've done wrong.” Vanrad replied but Thorian just looked away from him. “The child must be crowned the crown prince I'm the day of your wedding.” “Isn't that too early?” Thorian said but withdrew from saying anything more. He still didn't know why he was reporting his progress to him but he knew he always came up with one thing or the other to help him with this. “No it's not. Even if the child is not yours as she is saying, try having a child you know is yours with her. Asannah isn't ready to have a child with you or you would have tried harder…” “Why would I want to have a child with her? The test is out and I only want her now for the child. There's nothing underneath those clothes I haven't seen at all and he is my son and no one else's because I'm sure she can't agree to any man just touching her.” Thorian said, folding his arms across his chest. “Don't be so full of yourself, Thorian. She knows what she's doing by telling out the child is not yours.” Vanrad said and it only annoyed Thorian more and he turned to leave the room. “We wouldn't have this issue if you hadn't brought Asannah in the picture in the first place.” Thorian reminded him. “I'll keep reminding you that till you take your last breath and I won't forgive you for it no matter rhow hard you try to get my forgiveness.” Vanrad didn't say a word and just coughed violently, coughing out blood in the process. He stretched to pick the glass of herbs that had been sustaining him but his hands couldn't reach them. He turned to look at Thorian who had already has his face turned away from him to avoiding helping him with whatever it was he needed help with. “I have a lot of things to deal with especially with Asmeria. Do not add to my burden by making me do petty tasks for you.” He said before walking out of the room and Vanrad watched as he walked away his hands in his pockets.
