Eva...
Eva rolled out of bed and looked at her alarm clock. Sighing she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and rubbed on her forehead. Eva had lost count around six pm how much wine she had drunk the evening before. She had been so engrossed in unpacking, organizing and devouring more Chinese take-out than her stomach could handle. Eva decided to check her reflection in the mirror to see what damage had been done.
Noticing dark circles around her eyes, Eva made a mental note to hold off on any more alcohol consumption until the unpacking and chorus had been done before she decided to get a little wild before my king down on her job search.
Just as Eva was walking to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water her cell phone started to ring. Searching the living room and dining room Eva followed the sound of her phone blaring Nickleback Gotta Be Somebody at an obscenely high volume, which could only mean one thing Jenifer was calling her. The last time she had spoken to her was about a month ago when she was backpacking through Japan. Jenifer had gotta job offer from photographer to become part of a photo shot contract that would last about a month. Jenifer didn't have to apply for a work visa on her extended stay because she was both an American citizen and a Japanese citizen, benefits of having an American mother and Japanese father.
Finally locating her cell phone in between the couch seats Eva answered the phone "Hey" she cracked into the receiver as her head was still pounding. Eva decided to see if she could hunt down some Advil before her head exploded.
"Hey, Eva! How the hell are you" Jennifer spoke into her ear, to chipper for her to process.
"Headache got wine drunk last night and put myself into a beef and vegetable coma" Eva replied as she opened the medicine cabinet in her Master bath, which was empty except for a box of tampons.
"What time is it there?" Jennifer questioned, probably just now realizing that I was the side of the state and she was halfway around the world with what could be a twelve-hour difference.
Glancing at her alarm clock before leaving her bedroom Eva replied "It's about 4:30 here" Eva paused "In the morning"
Jennifer gasped on the other end "Oh s**t! I got lost in my news, I completely forgot about the time difference" Jennifer spoke with what could only be described as her sympathy voice mixed with the please don't kill me tone.
"Don't worry Jenny I've been up for about 30 minutes before you called" Eva chuckled to herself.
"Okay as long as I didn't wake you, I was calling to tell you that I'm going to be coming to New York this weekend. Long story short my Mothers dragging me to a grand opening for her" Jennifer paused as she tried to figure out how to best describe their relationship with her family "work colleagues/friends grand opening. She thought it would be nice if I joined her for the opening and to pay my respects. One of her bosses recently passed and he was a mentor of sorts when I was growing up" Jennifer paused. She always got like this when we would bring up family so years ago Eva just stopped asking and she very rarely brought them up in conversation. , "Anyways, I only agreed because last time we talked you said the renovations on hour new place we're all most done and that you were planning to move in soon, though we could grab drinks, catch up. Do a girls night out and have some girls night in fun this weekend?"
Eva chuckled into the phone "You don't call me for a month, then you call me at four in the morning to tell me your coming to New York and want to see if I'm down for some Eva and Jenny fun?" Eva paused "Hell yeah! It actually works out perfect because I should be done unpacking by this weekend and I'm free till Monday, Wednesday at the latest depending on how long you're here for"
Screech...
Eva removed her ear from the receiver to stop Jenny's high pitch screech from causing more damage to her already throwing headache. Eva made her way to her condo's powder room, which was solely deserved for quests, in hopes of locating her bottle of Advil.
"Yay!" Jenny finally spoke after what felt like minutes. "Okay! I will let you go then, I'm arriving on Wednesday and the official wake is on Thursday and Friday but after that, I will be free. I'm going to bring you some stuff from here we can do a little house warming party. Also, I heard through the grapevine that a new club/bar is opening up across the river from you. Maybe if you're up for it, you might want to check it out?" Jenny stopped awaiting Eva's response hopefully.
"Okay sounds good. I will see you Friday I will text you the address. Call me!" Eva answered as she scoured the powder room with no such luck yet again. Eva was perplexed cause she could have sworn that she had started to unpack the bathroom stuff before she got lost in her wine and takeout early in the evening.
"Okay, I love you, Eva!" Jenny replied "I will! Talk to you soon and please stay out of trouble" Jenny paused.
Eva smirked at her response. Jenny and her had been instant friends since freshman year of college and have been going strong ever since. Jenny knew who better than she let most people.
"I'll try" Eva responded with a smirk on her face.
"Bye," Jenny replied.
"Bye" Eva responded before clicking the phone off.
Eva found herself standing in the hallway desperately searching for the three boxes that she had labeled Bathroom before she left her step-moms house two days ago to move here. Locating one of the boxes near the living room Eva opened the box and low and behold the Advil was sitting near the top of the box. Receiving her glass of water Eva room two Advil pills from the bottle and climbed back into her bed. Deciding to forgo setting her alarm clock Eva drifted off to sleep.
