Max...
Max could shake the smell from earlier in the afternoon. Raspberries, Fresh flowers, and sweet morning dew grass. It was the most intoxicating smell he had ever smelt. It made him think of summer picnics and sweet treats on his tongue.
Could it be her? Have we finally crossed paths with our mate? Maybe it isn't a lost cause to dream of a life, even while we're in this mess. Max thought to himself, hoping his wolf would respond, but he didn't. Ever since they had smelled her this afternoon his wolf has been awol. It worried him, but he had a lot to deal with and thought it best to let his wolf deal with his s**t before they talked about it.
Max shook off his thought and feelings of abandonment from his wolf. He was 32 know and has known his wolf since his 16th birthday. Max thought he and Chase had gotten past their emotional issues. In the begging when they were first getting acquainted he and Chase would rarely communicate with each other on personal matters, but as the years passed they became more in tune with one another. Yet, here they were again, with Chase shutting him out.
It will pass and then they can talk it out. Max thought to himself as he exited his truck and walked towards the packhouse to check on Evan. After the ceremony, Trevor and Evan would have a lot of things to discuss. From the rogue situation, the bar, and the pack home. When Max found out he was going to be Alpha, Max signed over majority control of the business that his father had left him and his brother Abe, instead of just intrusting management for his club adventure with Trevor.
Max was getting agitated as the situation threatened to unhinge him. Max was under the belief that Abe was to inherit the pack as he was their father's firstborn son, but from later conversations with Abe, Max came to the understanding that he didn't want the role instead he was hoping for a more active role in the local and internationals mundane firms the pack had acquired over the years to sustain the pack and families. Abe didn't want anything to do with the pack or its dealings. So Max gave him what he wanted just to make his life a little easier with the added responsibility of becoming the next Alpha.
"Hey, Evan!" Max spoke to a distracted Evan causing Evan to jump and fling papers out of his hand and onto the floor. "Sorry, I thought you heard me come it" Max quickly replied as Evan raced to retrieve the papers he was holding and put them back in order.
"It's okay, as anyone ever told you, you move like a god damn jewel thief?" Evan questioned with a slight smile spreading across his face.
Max smiled. "Yes, maybe not in those exact words but yes I have been told that before" Max replied as he took a seat on the mahogany brown leather sofa in his father's old office, one that would eventually become Evans knew office and domain as his third. "How are things coming along with everything here?" Max asked Evan while starting at the wall. "We almost ready to rock and roll?" Max added taking note that it was almost dinner and the sun would be setting soon.
"Actually, I have been ready for a bit now, I was waiting for you to get back" Evan replied. "I'm just going over keynotes for the address for the fifth time making sure that everything is in order" Evan quickly added. "How did your tasks go?" Evan asked making sure to stay on top of Max just as much as he was.
Max smiled "Everything's good" Max spoke while turning to face Evan, who was walking towards him with the keynotes. "The garden was almost set up before I left. The caterers are scheduled to be here tomorrow at 8 am to set up for the entire day. The Ballroom was starting to take shape. It's just how Mother had planned his funeral and wake would look. The only difference is I'm the one becoming Alpha and not Abe. The bar's official done, the cleaning crew is coming in tomorrow morning to make everything shine and the caterers will arrive Friday morning along with the two kegs and some odds and ends" Max spoke with calm and collectiveness, all of the feelings that he was currently not feeling.
"Good!" Evan replied holding back his true feelings about the situation. "Same here the projector is set up and the dining table is set and dinner will be served in about one hour. Finger foods and main dishes to pick and choose from. The hand out folders are stacked with separate sheets for people to take note and hand back should people have ideas" Evan paused he was a nerd through and through and he didn't care he like organization "that way we can keep track of people's thoughts and questions and ideas without the disorganization of being told and having to store the information.
Evan paused looking at his feet " If you want to look over the notes I'm going to take a much-needed shower" Evan continued while he was walking towards the door. "Everyone has been informed and will be in gathering in the main hall in about 30 minutes, enough time to grab a shower and change if needed" Evan added as he bowed and left.
"Thanks, Evan" Max hastily replied as he looked over the notes. Max was impressed at how meticulous Evan was. Max decided to have a shower and shave and wore dress pants and a jacket. Max did always did like looking presentable, must be of the many years working in a corporate office. Max made a mental note to plan a shopping trip for more casual clothes especially since he would be moving to the bar.
Once everyone was gathered in the main hall Max started by handing out the file folders to the member. "Thank you all for gathering today, food will be waiting in the dining hall for after this" Max started. "It has come to our attention during a recent attack at the L.A pack that we have a much bigger situation on our hands. A war is coming, one that the rogues have been planning for a while and we are just being informed of" Max began.
"They have been plotting in the shadows and hold direct ties to the blood moon prince" the crowd gasped as people began to murmur amongst themselves. "Yes, the story of our very existence and migration across the United States" Max stated causing the crowd to hush. "During an interrogation of one of the rogues from this recent attack we were made aware of this information. hold belief in a prophecy of a girl born of the six houses of the blood moon king who is to be reborn on her 29th birthday who will lead the war against them and bring their destruction." Max began as he heard papers, Russel in the crowd.
"It seems that my father was aware of his prophecy and was testing the validity of it in Italy where he was killed in the rogue attack. This is all speculation as we have no facts except an entry from his journals that was returned to us after the attack. It seems they were discussing this girl before the attack took place. Know my father was also complaining evidence on rogue attacks for the last 10 years around the globe and I believe he was killed because he was too close to discovering the eminent war headed our way" Max continued.
"I have gathered you all here today to share the knowledge we have and to discuss what information we know and how we plan to obtain some information that we don't and to ask for your help and assistance in this matter" Max paused. "I've asked Evan my third to compile the notes you are all holding to go over and reflect on. He has included a sheet for you to write ideas, notes, and possible plans of attack, which can be passed on to him once you have had time to review the information." Mas spoke with clarity. "I have also asked Evan to prepare a PowerPoint about this situation, which will further breakdown the information you all hold in your hands, and I would like you all to listen to Evan," Max spoke while handing the stage over to Evan causing the shy man to blush.
Max walked towards the light switch and dimmed the lights so the projector screen could be better seen by the members. Evan blushed a crimson red as he had all eyes on him.
"Thank you Alpha" Evan began after showing respect for his alpha by submitting his neck, making Max smiled. Max hated formalities, but they were what made a pack strong when at their weakest moments. "Here you can see everything the Alpha has just explained. I have broken it down to a timeline. These rogues have been planning this since their prince separated from the court. There have been rumors over the years that he has created a pack in Alaska to bring down our destruction but no actual evidence has ever been gathered" Evan spoke on his findings.
"I have a clinical degree in psychology, and In all my years of practice, there is always a clear theme in situations like these cause and effect. The situation that started this mess, the blood moons princes exile. The trigger which leads to current events may of in fact been his very death. Know over the years they have careful, meticulous, and undetectable. We did not know this was coming nor did we suspect. However, K believes these rogues have members inside packs across the globe who they use to aid them, as we can see with evidence pointing to the death of our alpha. If not in ours than in other packs. The prophecy is causing them to become sloppy and they will face a chaotic moment once they realize we know and will start to make mistakes they wouldn't have made if we were still in the dark"
"Our main plans of attack right now should be on training and recruiting from allowing packs, Making an establishing contact with the Italian pack we were in contact with about the situation before communication was lost. Informing pack members worldwide to be careful and vigilant. Also, capturing rogues and interrogating so we can take the fight to them. We are in contact with Grandma Sager who may know of a Witch named Magie who may be willing to help us with integrating rogues and may be able to help us locate this girl from the prophecy before they do" Evan spoke of the group "I would like to give you the opportunity to ask a question and provide input but I would also like you to have an opportunity to digest the information spend time with loved ones since a storm is headed our way, which is why I set up the buffet in the dining hall for you to eat and digest the information. If you have any questions please talk to me or Max and if you can think of anything please do not hesitate to ask" Evan finished while the crowd began to disperse, thankful for the distraction of food.
Max walked toward Evan and patted him on the back. "Well done Evan you did better than I would have. That mess was making my head spin earlier. Thank you" Max spoke half-heartedly.
"No problem Max, I appreciated it though." Max headed for the buffet and made himself a plate while be headed outside to admire the full moon. It was a magical sight. Max started to feel quest and anxious and chopped it up as needing a run, but his wolf had other ideas. To eat mingle and head to bed to get rest before tomorrows wake.
