Max...
Everyone was gathered in the backyard and it was packed. People inside the ballroom we're still attempting to make it into the garden for his father's funeral service.
"Ghee! What a turn out" spoke a voice from behind Max. Max shuffled avoiding the bodies beside him as he turned to put a face to the voice.
"Oh! Hey, Jennifer when did you get it?" Max asked.
"Yesterday! Mom said you were busy. I let Evan know but he said you guys were swamped with this rogue stuff" Jennifer spoke.
Jennifer was a few years younger than him but he always thought she was great. She was one of those girls that if you said she couldn't she would prove she could, even if she fell flat on her face.
"Yeah, we have been swamped! Are you heading home after this?" Max asked knowing that she had two packs to call home, but she had recently been attending school and work in Japan with her father, living with the kitsune.
"No dads on high alert, he wants me to stay here to keep mom company. He doesn't like the idea of her being alone, especially with this going on. He might be coming for a visit. He hates their long-distance relationship especially since their mates" Jennifer elaborated.
"Whatever happened between them?" Max asked curiously, maybe they could handle the distance because she was a wolf and he a kitsune, Max pondered to himself.
"My grandfather passed and Dad went back to check on things, but they had a fight last year and she told him to stay, so he did. They still talk like crazy though" Jenifer continued.
"I would like to welcome our Alpha Max to the stage!" A voice spoke into the microphone in the stage in front of them. "Where are you, Max?" The voice asked while skimming through the crowds. "There you are let the man through" Max looked up and seen Darl his father's Beta on Stage.
"I guess that's my cue, wish me luck" Max spoke while he smiled and lifted both his thumbs. Jennifer laughed making Max's face drop.
Max oped up his mind link to Jennifer What's so funny? Max asked.
Jennifer coughed. If we were in Japan, you could have been shot for that thumbs up, that's all. It basically means f**k you over there.
Max nearly chocked. Well, you learn something new every day. Max replied as he made his way toward Darl. Max shook the man's hand and took his place in front of the stage.
"I prepared a speech about my father. I would like this time to thank you all for coming, it would have met a lot to my father to see you all here for him. Even if some of you are here for the food, but dad wouldn't have mind cause at least he would have been amongst good company, " Max paired looking over ad Darl and Jerry.
"I would like to thank Dark and Jerry for making it out tonight to be with us as we say farewell to our previous Alpha way he rests in peace. I hope you guys plan on sticking around, because even though your no longer our leading pack members, I'm sure you still have a lot to teach us young pups" Max spoke well he laughed at his own comment.
, "You bet we will" Jerry Cheered at Max from the side of the stage.
, "My father was a decent man. Light-hearted and sharp as nails when he had to be. He loved his family and his pack, which is why I'm up here today instead of my older brother. He came to my father's months before his trip. Father asked him if something were to happen to him if he is ready to stand as Alpha being firstborn. My brother wasn't ready, his entire life he was trained for this but his heart wanted something else, he wanted to travel and take over the business in the city. It was a shock when Darl announced me Alpha, I wasn't expecting it, but I'm happy to have been chosen. I just hope that I can be half the man he was in this life." Max continued on the verge of tears.
"I remember when I was little and my mother was still alive, my father and her sat down and discussed what the end would like for them. How could they make something so sad for the other to be something about celebration and love? Dark and Jerry worked hard on this event making sure everything was done to his wishes. I see my mother here tonight in the flowers and lights, so that's what we will do. We will send off our alpha in glory, then we will eat and drink snd remember the good days and leave our troubles for tomorrow." Max finished as he handed the stage over to Darl and Jerry who both spoke of their friend and Alpha.
It was a good day, but it was sad. St the end of the speeches they revealed a burning piling in the back of the garden and everyone made their way to send their Aloha off, as the Vikings would have.
Dark and Jerry placed wreaths on my father's body and a bundle of wolf's bane in his hand. The crowd covered him and the like with flowers of all different colors. It was Darl who was supposed to light the fire but he asked me too. "It was your father's wish" Max took the torch snd approached the base of the pile.
"Goodbye our friend, we will see you again in the next life" Max spoke before lighting the pike up.
Everyone stood around and watched until the pile had gone out and there was nothing left but ash. His ashed would be collected and released into the creek by family and close friends later on this week, during the next full moon.
