Maddie and Lily were devastated when they found out that the Mafia had discovered their investigation and planned to send members to try to kill Maddie. Maddie's father, who turned out to be a secret covert military member, knew that they were in grave danger and immediately took action to protect them.

He took them to a safe house where they could stay until he could figure out a plan to keep them safe. Maddie and Lily were scared and confused, but they knew that they had to trust Maddie's father.

Maddie's father contacted his military contacts and learned that the Mafia had bribed the police to not take any action against them. They were able to gather enough evidence to bring the Mafia to justice, but it would take time.

Meanwhile, Maddie and Lily had to lay low and avoid being seen by anyone. They couldn't go back to their home town because it was too dangerous, so they had to start a new life somewhere else.

Maddie's father was able to secure new identities for them and helped them move to a new town where they could start over. It was hard for them to leave their old life behind, but they knew it was necessary to stay alive.

Maddie and Lily struggled to adjust to their new life. They missed their old friends and the familiarity of their hometown, but they were grateful to be alive and safe. They started to make new friends and slowly began to rebuild their lives.

Years went by, and the Mafia was finally brought to justice. Maddie and Lily were able to move back to their hometown, but they knew that they could never forget what had happened to them. They had learned the hard way that sometimes, the people you trust the most can be the ones who hurt you the most.
