Part 1: Episode 4

Maddie and her new friend, Lily, had become inseparable ever since they met on the first day of school. They had bonded over their shared love of reading and exploring the city, and they often spent their weekends exploring new neighborhoods and trying out different cafes and restaurants.

One weekend, Lily came over to Maddie's house to hang out. They spent the morning playing board games and chatting, and then they retreated to Maddie's room to listen to music and read books. As they were rummaging through Maddie's bookshelf, Lily noticed a small piece of paper tucked behind a book.

"What's this?" Lily asked as she picked up the paper.

Maddie froze. She had forgotten all about the note that her mother had left her before she died. She had hidden it away and tried to forget about it, but now it seemed like her past was catching up to her.

"It's nothing," Maddie said quickly, trying to take the paper from Lily's hand. But Lily was persistent, and she unfolded the paper to reveal a message written in Maddie's mother's handwriting.

"What's a Secret Mafia?" Lily asked, looking up at Maddie with concern.

Maddie's heart sank. She had never told anyone about the note, and now she was faced with the reality that her mother had been murdered by a group of dangerous people.

"I don't know," Maddie said, her voice shaking. "My mother left that note for me before she died. She said that the Secret Mafia was responsible for her death."

Lily looked at Maddie with a mixture of shock and sympathy. "We have to tell the police," she said firmly.

Maddie hesitated. She had never considered going to the police with the note, but now that Lily had suggested it, she knew that it was the right thing to do.

The two girls spent the rest of the afternoon trying to piece together any information they could about the Secret Mafia. They scoured the internet for clues and talked to people who might have information, but they came up empty-handed.

As the sun set and Lily had to go home, Maddie was left with a newfound sense of determination. She knew that she had to find out who was responsible for her mother's death, and she knew that she couldn't do it alone. She was grateful to have a friend like Lily by her side, and she was ready to do whatever it took to uncover the truth.
