A really frustrated Alpha Atlas entered his ground-floor office to get his next task of the day finished as quickly as possible, mind-linking his Luna Rose, Gamma Ray, and his best warriors to meet him there as quickly as their legs could carry them. Just as he sat down, Luna Rose came in carrying a big plate of fruit, chocolate ice cream, a bowl of pickles, and a huge glass of milk. With a smile, Atlas shook his head, pulled up the best chair in his office next to him, and arranged pillows to make it more comfortable before taking her massive plate away from her only to set it down on his desk long enough to help Rose get settled. As soon as he kissed Rose on the lips and came back with a pickled fruit ice cream flavor, Gamma Ray came in with the warriors. They all bowed their heads in respect to them both before everyone took their seats.
"What's going on, Alpha? Is everything alright?" Gamma Ray asked as he looked over at Luna Rose happily eating a pickle she dipped in her chocolate ice cream and drinking her massive glass of milk.
"Yes. We have some more unpleasant business to deal with though, before we can end the day ourselves. We have to fine-tune our draft for the alliance peace treaty with Alpha Krassus."
"That pompous ass?! He didn't even want to show his fallen pack members the respect they deserved. Why do you want to do this?" one of the warriors asked.
"Because, Lyonal, this will show his pack members that there's a better way of life out there and that they do have a choice. I can set the groundwork for the takeover of their pack and make sure that everything is already laid out for our son to take them when the time is right if it doesn't end up happening before then. That arrogant, sexist pig has caused so many problems over the years since he took over for his father, it's not funny. You know how many she-wolves are here because they couldn't stand it over there because of the abuse? We have to end it. The King already gave me the okay to handle this how I see fit. The only stipulation is to make sure that there are as few casualties as possible and to keep him informed."
"Now, I need you all to throw out as many ideas as possible so that I can write them down in list form before I fully write out the draft." Atlas stated as he pulled out a pen and paper. He wrote 'Alliance Peace Treaty Notes' on the top of the paper, wrote a number one directly under it, and followed it with: Along the whole border of our pack lands, ten acres on each side is now neutral territory where anyone from either pack can choose to reside and decide which of us is taken as Alpha. There they will be protected by both packs and able to live their life/lives as he/she/they see fit without interference from either of us. This is non-negotiable. For the next hour, they all sat there throwing everything they could think of to the treaty before he had enough to draft the finished document.
"There. It's all finished. I'm going to call him. Just stay quiet and listen. Keep an ear out for anything weird or alarming in the background or his words. Take notes if you need to. Don't let him know that you're on with me. We don't want to tip him off that he's going to be eliminated and with the King's blessing."
"Yes, Alpha." They said in unison before Atlas picked up the phone and dialed. After a few rings, he picked up.
"Alpha Krassus, Dark Raven Pack. State your business." rang out over the speaker. Atlas took a few seconds to collect himself before he answered.
"Alpha Krassus. Alpha Atlas from Blood Moon Pack. I'm calling to negotiate our Alliance Peace Treaty. Are you available for a few minutes to go through each of our documents before we finalize the Alliance Peace Treaty?" Instantly, his response sounded loudly over the speakerphone.
"Yes, of course. My current only requirements are simple. Either you or your Beta will mate with my Beta Female to produce a strong male heir to be raised for the Beta position, so he can take over as soon as he finishes his year of wolf training after becoming of age. The second requirement is that we revisit the treaty every couple of years and make adjustments as needed. Anything that you want to add on your end is fine as long as these two are accepted. I'll be quiet for a few minutes so you can think about it." All their mouths dropped open in surprise before Atlas spoke.
"Alright, we accept those conditions. However, my mate is still alive and we're expecting our first pup, and our Beta Male just lost his mate. He will need between three and five months to grieve before he takes this on, and I have to tell him this and that it wasn't negotiable."
"Agreed as long as she moves in with him on your pack lands in your pack house and is accepted into your pack without rejecting our pack."
"Done. I'll make the arrangements. We can have things ready for her as soon as tomorrow." Atlas told him.
"Not good enough. I'll bring her when I come to sign the final paperwork. Have a copy ready for me that we both sign and I'll bring two copies of the paperwork for a temporary pack member joining as is law." with that, Alpha Krassus hung up the phone. Atlas sighed and hung up his speakerphone as he grabbed his laptop and mind-linked his brother to come down in the office. A few minutes later, his Beta and brother Jack walked in... dried tears caked on his face with fresh tears threatening to fall. Jack looked up and looked at everyone in turn before he spoke.
"What's going on?" he asked quietly. He wasn't sure if he was here as family or as Beta, so staying neutral was the best bet.
"We finished the negotiations with Alpha Krassus. He only had two conditions, and he wasn't budging on either of them... he wants you to mate with his Beta Female to produce an heir to be raised to take over the position in his pack. He's giving you between three and five months to grieve Lillyan before you do it. You know our tradition requires a mating ceremony, so whenever you choose in that time frame, will be when it happens. He'll be invited to see it take place." Jack was quiet for a moment before he responded.
" I know that this Alliance Peace Treaty is important, but this requirement couldn't have come at a worse time. I literally just lost my mate! Lillyan was carrying our first pup!" Jack stayed quiet for a moment, seething in pain and rage, before he took a deep breath and continued. "I'd rather not do this so soon.... in fact, I'd be happy if I didn't have to do this at all! But I understand that with my Alpha and Beta blood, I'd produce a strong pup. I also understand that he probably said you or me, and with Rose here and pregnant, you'd lose the pup and probably her, too..." Jack took another deep breath and looked into Atlas' eyes with pure resolve and resignation before he spoke again. "I'll do my best to be ready in three months. When will she be here?"
"They're on their way now. I have the final treaty paperwork in triplicate for us to sign, and he's bringing the temporary new pack member paperwork. We need to be prepared to make copies."
'Alpha, Alpha Krassus is here with his Beta Female. Should I bring them in?' came a mind-link from a very frustrated Omega Female. Before Atlas could respond, he could hear yelling coming closer to his office door, which was a feat considering it was soundproof.
"I'M EXPECTED, YOU LOWLY OMEGA, AND AN ALPHA!!! KNOW YOUR PLACE AND JUST LEAD ME TO YOUR ALPHA'S OFFICE!!!!"
CRASH
"Alpha Krassus, I don't mean any disrespect. I'm just waiting on my Alpha's order."
"IS THIS THE DOOR TO HIS OFFICE?! LORNA, OPEN THE DOOR AND FIND OUT! BACK OFF, OMEGA!!"
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Suddenly, a very timid and teary-eyed woman opened the office door and stood silently to the side with her head down and her eyes towards the floor. Soon after, a very unreasonably irate Alpha Krassus stormed through the door, pushing her to the side. He looked for an empty seat, found an empty chair, sat down, pulled out his paperwork, pointed, and spoke normally.
"Alright, now that the irritance is taken care of, let's get started. Lorna, sit down."
