Chapter 1

The air inside the big Reign house was thick. It smelled like strong espresso coffee, clean gunmetal from weapons, and the heavy feeling of family history. Flavio Cierro Reign stood perfectly still near the tall glass windows. His hands were locked behind his back. He stood as straight and quiet as the large oil painting of their late father that hung above the fireplace. Flavio did not talk very much. But whenever he did speak, every single word felt heavy. His words carried the weight of a thousand hard choices he had never asked to make. He had not taken the leader's throne by force. It was simply handed to him by blood and by a solemn promise. When their father died, Flavio was the one who stood up. He was the firstborn son, the leader, and the protector of the family bloodline. Around the long, dark mahogany table, the rest of the Reign brothers and sisters gathered. Gianna Issa Reign was the first to arrive. Her dark eyes walked across the room, looking closely at her brothers and sisters for any signs of being tired or in pain. She held a thick leather folder tightly against her chest. Inside were secret documents that only the family "Keeper" was allowed to touch. She walked over to Flavio, kissed his cheek lightly, and then took her seat without making a sound. Her presence always felt gentle, almost like a mother’s care. But no one in the room could mistake the hard steel hidden right beneath her soft outside. Ambrose Trez Reign came in next. His white medical coat was tossed casually over his broad shoulders. There was a faint spot of dark blood on his sleeve. The smell and sight of blood never really left him—not completely. He gave a tired but calm nod to his older brother, Flavio. Then he leaned his back against the wall and crossed his arms over his chest. “Another clean-up job down at the docks,” Ambrose said, keeping his voice very low. “Three bodies. Only one of them survived the fight. Barely.” "Good," Flavio said quietly from the window. “We only needed one alive to make them talk.” Suddenly, the heavy wooden doors burst open. Regina Lira Reign walked in quickly. Her hoodie was pulled up over her head, and her eyes brightened with a wild, mischievous fire. She was already typing fast on a small computer device strapped tightly to her wrist. “I broke into the Bianchi family's private computer server,” Regina said with a wide smile. “You guys will not believe what I found inside.” Gianna gave her a very sharp, serious look. “You know the rules, Regina. No electronics allowed inside the war room.” Regina just grinned back at her sister. “Then it is a very good thing that I already downloaded everything before I walked through that door.” “Regina—” Gianna started to argue. But Flavio raised one hand in the air to stop them. “Let her speak.” Regina leaned over the table. She tossed a small silver computer drive across the wood toward Gianna. “Those are blueprints. They are for a hidden lab in the city of Milan. They are not making regular drugs there—it is something much worse. They are doing bad experiments on real people.” Everyone in the room went completely still. Lizandra Davina Reign was not at the meeting. As always, her chair at the table sat cold and empty. She had only sent one short message. It was heavily locked with a secret code, and it was very vague: *In Istanbul. Following a traitor. Do not wait up for me.* Nobody asked any questions about where she was or what she was doing. They all knew the truth. If Lizandra was out hunting, it was because someone had dared to spill Reign family blood. There was a quiet, sad look in Fabriz Rezo Reign's eyes as he stared at her empty chair. He was the youngest brother of them all. He spoke the absolute least, but he always observed and watched the most. “She would have wanted to be sitting here with us today,” Fabriz whispered softly. “She always wants to be here,” Gianna replied in a gentle voice. “But the blood we spill in this life always seems to want more.” Flavio finally turned away from the tall window. He stepped forward into the dim light of the room, his jaw set hard like stone. “Then let it want more. We will only give it exactly what we must.” He looked at each of his brothers and sisters, one by one. “The hidden lab in Milan. We are going to go there and strike it down completely. Regina, I want you to track their movements. Ambrose, get your medical team ready to move. Gianna, wipe away our trail so no one can follow us. And Fabriz…” He turned his eyes to the youngest brother. “You are coming with me on this mission.” A bright spark of excitement lit up in Fabriz’s eyes. “Yes, brother.” They did not just stand there as normal brothers and sisters. They stood together as a powerful force. Each one of them was born into a dangerous family that lived by staying silent, moved in the dark shadows, and built their power using whispers and blood. In that quiet moment, the Reign family moved one step closer toward the next chapter of their long history. The Italian Mob was not just a powerful business empire to them. It was their home. ~~ On the other side of the world, the golden rays of the Spanish sun shone through the tall, curved windows of the grand Galvez estate. The bright light cast a warm glow across the polished marble floors. The morning felt very quiet and peaceful on the outside. But beneath the surface, the whole household moved quickly and smoothly, just like a well-oiled machine. Catalina Mitre Galvez stood in the large kitchen. She hummed a soft, sweet song from her younger days while she worked. The rich smell of cooking eggs, spicy chorizo sausage, and fresh bread with tomatoes filled the warm air. The quiet sound of forks, knives, and expensive plates clicked gently together. It was a familiar, comfortable rhythm that welcomed the start of each new day. Her oldest son, Armando Rego Galvez, stepped into the kitchen with quiet confidence. He wore a clean, sharp black button-down shirt. The bright morning sun caught the sparkle of the shiny cufflinks on his wrists—cufflinks that used to belong to his late father. Armando moved like a man who belonged to two completely different worlds. To the regular public, he was just a smart businessman. But in the dark shadows, he was a powerful ruler. “Buenos días, madre,” he said softly to his mother. He pressed a warm kiss against her cheek before he sat down at the very head of the long table. “Buenos días, mi hijo,” Catalina answered back with a gentle smile. But her eyes stayed on his face a little bit longer than necessary. Even though he carried a huge amount of worry and weight on his shoulders now, she could still see the little boy he used to be. One by one, the rest of the Galvez brothers and sisters started to walk into the room. Valeria Siv Galvez entered next. She wore a beautiful white silk blouse, and every single movement she made was smooth and elegant. Her phone buzzed over and over again with messages from her international fashion business. But this morning, she turned the phone face down on the table. For Valeria, family always came first. Maya Elle Galvez followed closely behind her. She was barefoot, and her eyes looked soft and sleepy, but she was still totally alert. She slid into her wooden chair as quietly as a whisper, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. Even without any makeup on her face, her beauty was amazing. It was a powerful tool that she knew how to use with quiet control. Federico Prenz Galvez came in with his shirt sleeves rolled up high. There were still streaks of bright paint on his knuckles. He sat down heavily with a large artist's sketchpad tucked tightly under his arm. Right away, he started whispering to Maya about a brand new art piece he was working on. It was a painting that had hidden feelings of violence covered up by abstract peace. The last one to arrive at the table was Miguel Cres Galvez. He was still wearing his neat school uniform, and his heavy backpack was slung over one of his shoulders. He gave a short, quick nod to Armando before he sat down right next to Federico. He was already flipping quickly through a thick book about the laws and structures of the criminal underworld. The sound of their morning conversation was light and easy. It was the special kind of talk found only among people who shared secrets that were far too dangerous to ever speak out loud to outsiders. But then, Catalina cleared her throat loudly. “I have something important to tell all of you,” she said. All six of her children stopped what they were doing and turned their heads to look straight at her. The feeling in the air changed instantly. “What is it, madre?” Valeria asked. She tilted her head with calm curiosity. Catalina hesitated for a brief second. She pressed her hand lightly over her chest, as if she were trying to calm down her fast-racing heart. “What would you say… what would your opinions be… if I decided to get married again?” Forks and spoons stopped in mid-air. A heavy silence fell over the room. “To Darius…?” Maya asked very carefully. Her eyes narrowed just a little bit. Catalina nodded her head up and down, keeping her gaze steady. “Yes.” “Are you completely sure about this, madre?” Federico’s voice cracked slightly. He looked over at Armando, whose face remained totally blank and impossible to read. “I am sure,” she said, her voice sounding strong now. “I have spent many years mourning your father after he passed away. I will never stop loving him, but… I have found warmth again. Inside Darius’ arms, I feel a happiness that I thought was gone forever.” Miguel set his thick book down slowly onto the table. “We know all about his family, madre. The Reign family is very dangerous.” Armando finally spoke up. His voice was deep, firm, and filled with power. “¿Estás dispuesta a casarte con un miembro de esa familia, madre?” he asked in Spanish. *(Are you truly willing to marry a member of that family, Mother?)* “I am absolutely sure, hijo,” she answered back. A very long silence passed over the breakfast table. Then, Armando slowly stood up from his chair. His sharp eyes swept across the face of every single one of his brothers and sisters. “If that is what you want, then we accept it,” Armando said. The firm tone in his voice was like a sealed promise. No one in the family dared to question his final decision. Valeria leaned back in her chair with a thoughtful smirk on her face. “Well, if we are going to merge our two families together, I am going to need to update all of our business maps and plans.” Federico let out a long sigh, but he nodded his head in agreement. “I will make sure our hidden weapons inventory includes the specific guns that the Reign family prefers to use.” Maya took a slow sip of her juice, a small smile growing on her lips. “Maybe I should run a few tests on Darius. Just to see how easily he bends when things get tough.” “Don’t you dare do that,” Catalina said, looking half-amused and half-serious at her daughter. And Miguel? He just muttered, “This is going to be very interesting,” before he pulled out his notebook to write down more notes. The Galvez family may have been deeply shocked by the sudden news, but their bond—just like their hidden power—was made of solid iron. In the dangerous underworld, new alliances were either a helpful fire or just more fuel for a fight. And Catalina’s new love story had just become their very next battlefield.
