Feels Different

1597 Words

The next day, Cassandra and Joaquin reached the packhouse in the late afternoon. Joaquin didn't return to the room after leaving, leaving Cassandra alone with her thoughts and guilt. Something was different. She could see it in the way people were looking at her, smell it in the way their emotions towards her had changed, and hear it in the barely audible whispers in the back. However, before she could make a move towards the stairs, Dianna stopped her. “Hey, how was your trip?” Dianna walked to her, one hand on her back and one on her abdomen, protectively, as she walked with a little difficulty.
