2: A Witch, a Man, and a Wolf

"Aremi? Who is this person you bring to our home?" Muta says skeptically as Baba and I open the heavy "door" to the cave we call home, and enter with this woman father still has yet to explain. "Greita, this is Hamantume, but you can call them Haman" my father says with the utmost respect his weakened state can muster. "Them?" I question aloud looking at Muta, who was shaking her hands quickly saying "Na na na, Celeste, remember, we must not question what one chooses to be called. It is disrespectful to do so."     I nod my head in agreement and quickly apologize to this interesting stranger in front of me. The stranger looks at me and bows their head silently. When they reopen their eyes, I get chills down my spine... Why are their eyes that of a dog?... and why is he so much larger than Baba? Baba was one of our largest fighters back in what they now call Towne Euopa after Nenu's wife, who passed away after the birth of their fourth child. They had all girls, and Nenu planned on making Sumi the next leader until him and my father came to dislike Nenu and his thoughts to expand and make our village bigger and more powerful. "Baba... who is this person?" I ask, more out of fear then curiosity at this point. "This is our new friend. They are going to help us get healthy again, then give us a gift like no other." Baba says beaming his flashy smile Muta loves.     Muta stands, shuffles her weak body over to this mysterious person, and looks them dead in the eyes with no fear. My mother was gifted from the Higher Creatures, she could tell by looking in someone's eyes if their intent was good, or if they were hiding something. This made it impossible for us to lie as children, but also made us very honest, good people. After a few moments, she gasps, and falls backwards into Babas arms.  "Greita, do you believe me now, my love?"  "Na, it is not possible? I thought they were all killed in the last great hunt?!" "That is what we wanted your kind to think." A deep voice emerges from the stranger. I gasp and turn to them, taken aback by the power behind this individual. "So, you all have been hiding for over one thousand years?" "Yes, it was the only way to keep us safe, since we are only able to be in our human forms during the day." Human forms? What does this person mean? they are human! I think to myself. Wait... the wolves... are these SHIFTERS?! No wonder Muta almost fainted... I am feeling a little woozy myself  I muster up the courage to take a step forward and look this person in the eye, their powerful gaze swept over me, giving me another round of chills. He then does something I never expected. He turns, and gets on his knees to be eye level with me. His blue green eyes were magnificent. "Celeste, I am the leader of what we call our pack. Is is like your family, but a little different. A pack is made up of multiple families. My pack has been contacted by the higher creatures to seek you out, Celeste. To fulfill a prophecy that will save my kind." My mouth hit the ground as I stared at this person who had the most serious look of concern in their eyes, worried that I would refuse their offer. Could I refuse something if it was a prophecy?
