Chapter 4

Arabella's POV

I rush out of the packhouse kitchen and allow my wolf to take control she stretches out paw the ground with her paws it's been ages since she was last in control, My wolf refuses to take control Infront of the pack and I rarely get to go on pack runs anyway. I flee into the woods running until my lungs burn and I need something to drink 'We're definitely passed the pack border.' I say to my wolf she scoffs as she has no loyalty to them, she believes they imprison us instead of saving us and I must admit I agree with her I do feel like a prisoner. We lap up the water but keep a trained ear just in case anyone else is out here we could be in rogue territory and they leave no prisoners. That's when I hear it the most sorrow filled howl ever, I turn my head in the direction but see nothing I try to creep away but a twig snaps under one of my paws 's**t' I say to myself. I look around again and that's when I see them a pair of sun like eyes staring at me, I bolt off as quick as I can but the footsteps are so close, I do the only thing I can think of and jump up into the trees. From a young age I noticed I'm not like other wolves I can do things that others can't like I can heal in a day some wolves it takes two or three days and with a serious injury they can take weeks. I sometimes wish I knew who my parents were so I could find them and ask them why I'm so different or maybe that's why they abandoned me. I see the gold eyes again then with my heightened sense I see that it's another wolf with Fur blacker than the sky and little flecks of silver it almost looks like the night sky when it's clear of clouds. 'MATE!' Celeste shouts. I stop her from jumping down 'Celeste we can't what if he's a rogue he'll kill us mate or not they don't follow our rules they pick their own mate remember.' She whimpers and slumps down watching the beautiful stranger walk onwards to a nearby stream when he's far enough away we jump down and follow him keeping our distance. 'it can't hurt to watch him a little.' I crouch as low as I can to the ground watching him drink out of the cool stream. As I watch him, I notice him seeming to be in an internal conversation with himself then he scoffs and runs back in the direction he came from with the close clear I do the same.

I wake the next morning with a massive smile on my face knowing I didn't have to get up early to make everyone's breakfast and the day was mine for once so I ran a bubble bath and allowed myself to soak in the tub. I then went and made myself something to eat and sat in the garden and did some drawing whilst enjoying the sun as it started to get late, I heard the phone ring and the caller id tells me it's the alpha. “Hello Alpha.” I answer trying to be as formal as I could he scoffs then speaks. “Ara, We will be back tomorrow in the late afternoon I want the house to be immaculate as we will be bringing a special guest with us and also make sure you wear that outfit, I got you.” I gulp knowing exactly the outfit he means and I remember the last time I wore it was the first time the alpha touched me and I really didn't want that to happen again. “yes, sir would you like me to prepare a meal for you and the guest for when you return.” I hear him pondering on the question and after a while he replies. “yes, but I need a plate like the one you serve the alpha of all alpha's his son is our guest and has an appetite like his dad. He then hangs up I replace the receiver and go cook my dinner and get ready for a busy day of work tomorrow.

I wake up early so I can get all my chores ready for the alpha's return and prepare their dinner and by 4pm it's all done I run upstairs to my room shower and change into the ridiculous outfit the alpha requested. I then walk downstairs to start the dinner, I clock watch waiting to hear the door open at 5.30 when the alpha said he would be home my stomach growls angrily as I skip breakfast and lunch just to make sure everything was prepared and just like clockwork the door opens and I hear voices conversing and Tomaz's boot's stumping all over the freshly vacuumed carpet the kitchen door slams open and Tomaz stands in its frame. “well would you look at this, A slutty maid you shouldn't try so hard slut I'll f**k you in anything you should know that.” he chuckles then leaves the kitchen. I roll my eyes. 'not tonight Tomaz.' I hear celeste growl. She's tried to protect me once and that got me nearly killed and since then we just agreed that it was the lesser of two evils. “Ara we are sat at the table when you're ready.” I hear the alpha shout through. Then it registers he never speaks to me like that maybe having this guest around could benefit me too. I plaster a smile of my face and start to take the plates out but I only see the family the chair at the head of the table is left unoccupied I place all the dinner's down and go back in the kitchen to eat mine and instead of the usual screaming and shouting I hear at dinner time it seems to be filled with polite chit chat and every now and then laughter. 'are you sure it's actually the alpha and his family.' celeste giggles. I shrug my shoulders not knowing what to think or to say. The alpha then walks in the kitchen. “Ara, I need you to do me 4 lattes and a mocha and all of us a slice of the chocolate fudge cake.” I nod and get to work. I start with the coffee knowing that the alpha's family always have a latte after dinner I take all the dirty plates and replace them with a slice of cake as I'm next to the alpha I feel a hand slide up my leg but for once it's not Tomaz he's too busy texting it was the alpha's hand. I straighten and then when I spotted him Alpha Kendrick's son and then I notice his eye gold like the sun it reminds me of the mysterious wolf I saw. I only look quick as not to be caught staring as I know Steph will beat me within an inch of my life especially with someone, she's interested in which to be honest is any male that isn't blood related. 'MATE!' celeste screams, I feel my eyes widen. “Ara, this is Alpha Kendrick's son, Soon to be Alpha, Lucien.” I look up at the alpha as he speaks to me. “Please to make your acquaintance sir.” I say to Lucien with a bow of my head. He stiffens as he looks at me, he's sun like eyes widening then he shakes his head and nods back to me.

Chapter 5

Lucien's Pov

I'd arrived at Alpha Marcos' house on the outside it's not much to look at nothing compared to the place I call home I had listen to the family ramble on about how excited they were to have me as their guest I agreed politely and jumped in and out of conversation. 'This is going to be the longest two weeks ever.' Fortis grumbled I held in a chuckle at his distaste for this family we were truly one in the same. We headed out after our meeting at 7am to lay down the ground rules all basic stuff like if I'm in the room assigned to me, I am not to be disturbed and other great perks my father threw in especially as he knows that Steph the alpha's daughter is obsessed with me. After the meeting I went to say good bye to my mother she was still so sick and she said that the only one to save her now was the moon goddess we had the best doctors look after her but they couldn't understand what was going on they believe she needs a blood transfusion but it's risky to give her one due to not knowing the truth of the illness. I stepped inside alpha Marcos' home and was hit with a wave of lavender and elderflower I could tell the house had been cleaned top to bottom ready for my arrival. “Lucien come with me I'll show you to the dining room then I'll give you a private tour.” Steph said as she wrapped an arm around my arm and tried to pull me towards the dining room. “You shall refer to me as Beta Lucien and you shall remember you place.” I growled down at her I know I shouldn't have but she needed to learn her place and that as much as I am a guest in her house I am still above her standing. She nodded and continued to lead me away as the family sat down, I excused myself to call my dad to let him know I had arrived safely, the scent from the kitchen was delectable I could feel my mouth start to water. My father answered on the third ring and after a quick conversation I went back to the dining room and sat down I saw the plate full of food and licked my lips ready to devour this feast. “So, Beta Lucien about the business we are to discuss how does 5pm tomorrow sound to you.” alpha Marcos asks after I finished my last mouthful. I nod never feeling so full in my life. “that's fine Marcos I have some business to attend to in the morning anyway.” I felt Steph brushing her leg up and down my calf all through dinner, I glare at her to stop and she just winks at me I growl lowly to warn her. “Coffee Beta?” Marcos asks and I switch my scowl for a smile as I look over to him. “Mocha please.” He shouts to what I assume is his kitchen staff about coffee and cake. 'if she doesn't stop touching us, I'm going to bite her f*****g leg off.' Fortis growled after having enough with Steph's behaviour.

After a small wait I see the door to what I assume is the kitchen step's a Petit blonde haired woman she seemed to be wearing a maid's outfit which look to have been brought from a s*x shop not that I was complaining she was beautiful, the dress was hugging her in all the right places showing off all her curves she bent down to hand the coffee to the Alpha showing off her ample bosom I looked away as she looked up towards me so she didn't know I was enjoying the show “Ara, this is Alpha Kendrick's son, Soon to be Alpha, Lucien.” Alpha Marcos said I looked back her way her eyes were wide and looking at the alpha. I notice his hand stroking up her leg and she was clearly uncomfortable with it. “Please to make your acquaintance sir.” I look her way as she speaks her voice like that of an angel then when I notice those piercing blue eyes and instantly, I remember the wolf I saw in the woods with eyes identical to hers. I shake my head and return her smile and nod. She straightens up places the last of the coffee and cake down then walks back into the kitchen. 'there's something strangely familiar about her and also why didn't she have a scent?' Fortis questioned and it got me thinking maybe it's time to question the alpha about his maid. “So, Marcos, Where did you find her, she cooks like a gourmet chef might need to find one for my household.” He smiles and amusement hits his eyes which really rubs me up the wrong way. “what Ara she was abandoned in the woods by are territory we think she was left because she's wolf-less and we were kind enough to take her in and give her a home and a purpose, I mean the poor thing doesn't even have a scent, she'd never make it out in our world like that.” I nod solemnly as he tells me everything, he could on this Ara girl that's his maid. “is it just your family and her that live here then?” he nods which makes me think back to the scent I could smell on him when he entered my house, Well the maid is wolf-less so maybe the eyes were just a coincident or I'm so desperate for my mate and to stop these constant marriage deals that I'd settle for a maid as a wife anything is a step up from Steph even if the moon goddess left me mate-less.

After dinner I excused myself to the room I had been given it was the master suite which I could tell never got used as they reserved it for my family in case we ever decide to visit I could tell the room had been cleaned today as it smelt exactly like the rest of the house, I threw my stuff onto the armchair situated in the corner of the room and flopped down on to the bed that's when I caught that heavenly smelt again it was so faint that you could miss it, I grabbed a handful of the duvet and took in a long deep breath trying to get a hit of the intoxicant smell but it was gone and I could only smell the freshly laundered covers. I huffed back down 'We'll find our mate on day.' Fortis whispers I inhale deeply again hoping that he's right but I don't think I'll find her here I walk over to the window and push it open and looking longingly at the moon.
