Chapter 22 Shadows wrapped around the bricks, giving the building the look of having been dipped in ink. Starlight danced on the shining black, the surface beneath undulating as though trying to rid itself of even that faint light. Specters surrounded the building, blocking the way forward through sheer numbers. “Do you ever get tired of being right?” Maggie asked. “More often than you will ever know.” Bertrand studied the specters, sword tips to the ground. “We have to fight our way through,” Maggie said. “We can do it.
