Chapter 6 Maggie lay in bed, watching the sun creep through the heavy curtains. She hadn’t slept, not really. There was something in the wide bed that left her feeling vulnerable. Like she was a child abandoned in the dark with monsters hiding all around. Or an imposter masquerading as a princess. There was no scenario she could imagine in which she belonged in the big bed in the stone house, but the sheets were soft against her bare skin.
