Chapter 10 “You have got to be kidding me.” Maggie reached for the painting. There was no mistaking the lines of the face or the faint look of disdain at being told to sit still long enough for a portrait to be drawn. A tiny plaque had been set into the sparkling wood of the frame. Bertrand Wayland ~ Shadow Stalker First Order “How long have you been here, Bertrand?” Maggie whispered. “Maggie.” Diven popped his head back into the hall. “It’s time for prayers.” “Diven, how long does someone have to work as a shadow stalker to get their portrait on the wall?” Maggie jogged down the hallway. “Some work their entire lives and never achieve the honor. Some of the best are taken by the shadows before they’re sought for recording.” Maggie’s head swam, blurring the portraits she passed.
