The mourners, thousands of them, walked quietly through Mount Herzl, the military cemetery. The body of Daria Shalit had been returned to Israel as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. Hezbollah claimed she had been killed in the Israeli bombing of southern Lebanon. The Israelis claimed she had been shot at close range, execution style, by her captors, probably moments after her abduction. So it went.
