My heart stuttered in joy as I saw his reaction, I walked slowly down the steps toward him as he offered him hand to me as I reached the bottom. “Hello Mr. Nathaniel” I said in a light flirty tone. My heart beating fast, I haven’t seen him in almost 2 years now since he left for university abroad.
Our families close business partners and good friends, had arranged my marriage to Oliver the day I was born, I was to be his when I was of age.
This somehow was an unbreakable bond between our parents that meant everything for their empires.
“You’re more beautiful with every passing day” he said to me and he pulled me into his warm embrace, his scent intoxicating me and sending warm shivers down my core.
The tension was in the room about our current situation with our parents missing, but my heart had longed for his return, his presence have brought me peace, living up to his name, truly.
I smiled and leaned into his big chest.
“Please excuse us” I announced to our maids and to Bo. They bowed their heads and went about their daily duties, Oliver taking my hand and walking through the library out to my gardens.
He turned to me, staring into my eyes.
“You know they aren’t returning” he said, his voice threatening to break, all I could manage to do was nod my head.
“Our marriage agreement was between them, I won’t force you into anything..” he said softly, my birthday being a month away, almost everything had been planned and paid for.
His comment felt like a knife in my heart, since I was four, all I could remember was him being my bestfriend and loving him and telling him I couldn’t wait to marry him, by the age of nine, he grew tired of hearing it and told me I’d have to whether I wanted to or not.
“You know I’ve always wanted you..” I said softly looking down to the ground with tears threatening to break. Fearing what his eyes would tell me I refused to look back up when I didn’t get a reply.
I heard him breathe out softly, almost as if he was overly tired.
“I want to give you a choice, since you’ve never had one about anything Ry...” he said softly almost like he wanted to say more about my parents before walking with my hand in his into the garden.
