Seeing Danny's confident demeanour, Grandma was even more furious. She squinted at him and said, “Danny, don't you remember what you promised the Huxleys three years ago? When you married Laura, didn't you promise to keep Laura's honour and that of the Huxley family? If you dared to break it, then you would be willing to be punished accordingly. Have you forgotten that?”
Danny replied calmly, “Of course I still remember it.”
Grandma gave him a faint smile. “It's good that you admit it. You disgraced the Huxley family by cheating on Laura and divorcing her. Plus, you've hurt the Huxley family's only grandson. What are you waiting for? Get down on your knees and accept your punishment!”
The Huxley family was not about to give up. Although two Danny had already paralyzed two bouncers and two personal guards, they were unafraid. Their pride seemed to be too high to give up.
'You guys still insist on punishing me? I wonder how much you still want to defend your pride?” Danny asked silently.
“Then what are you waiting for? Immediately kneel down and admit your mistake!” Grandma ordered sternly.
At that moment, Anthony immediately picked up the paddle, “Mom, let me do it because I have failed to educate a son-in-law so that he can tarnish the face of the Huxley family.”
But Desmond snatched the paddle from his brother's hand and glared. “Wait! I'm the eldest son in the Huxley family, and he beat my son to a pulp anyway. I should be the one to teach him a lesson!”
There was a tug-of-war over the wooden paddle between Desmond and Anthony. Both insisted on the punishment. Danny, who saw this, just shook his head. 'Ridiculous!'
Until Laura suddenly shouted and stopped them both. “Dad, Uncle, stop it already!”
There was silence until Michelle spoke up for the first time, “Laura, do you intend to prevent your father and uncle from teaching this ignorant boy a lesson?”
Laura snatched the paddle out of both of their hands. “He is my deadbeat husband. He has wronged me, so let me punish him and force him to kneel!”
This time, no one dared stand in Laura's way. Danny also glanced at his wife. She was very beautiful with her long blonde hair and slender body, but all of that just made Danny sick.
“My wife, who is a respectable woman from the Huxley family, intends to hit me? You're really good, Laura. You had an affair in a hotel room with Tom Harold and acted like I was the one who lied to you, and now you're going to punish me? What a wonderful wife.”
“You still won't confess either?” snapped Matthew as he moved closer to Laura and snatched the paddle from her right hand.
At the moment, all Matthew had in mind was to get rid of Danny. Matthew immediately aimed a punch at Danny's face while shouting. “Damn you! How dare you scold my cousin! I'll smash your hypocritical face!”
Matthew immediately swung the paddle to hit Danny's head. But the young man stood tall and defiant. When the paddle was two inches above Danny's head, the young man caught Matthew's wrist and twisted it.
Bugh! The paddle hit Matthew's face hard. Matthew's face was burned by the wooden punch.
“I've taken down four people, and you still want to fight me? That's great!” Danny quipped as he clapped his hands at what Matthew had done.
By this time, Grandma's favourite grandson was holding his face while grimacing in pain. At that moment, the whole room looked at Danny while gaping. They all wondered how a man of unknown origin could dare to beat up the successor of the Huxley family.
Grandma stomped her cane and turned to Danny once more. “You bastard! How dare you go wild here? Don't you know that important people attended my birthday party? Not just businessmen but also government officials. Aren't you afraid that they'll arrest you and throw you in jail?”
Danny glanced at the guests briefly. He didn't need to look any further; he was certain that what Grandma said was true. The Huxley family was quite prominent and well-connected, so it was only natural that many important people would come to Grandma's birthday party.
Despite this, Danny wasn't afraid at all. He was still calm as he said, “Oh, how nice it would be if many important people saw that Matthew was the one who attacked me out of the blue. What I did was an attempt at self-defence. If Matthew got hurt, it was because he was unlucky.”
Suddenly, a man who looked familiar to Danny approached them and spoke abruptly. “It's true; the grandson of the Huxley family tried to hit you first, but he didn't because he was following the family rules. Didn't you clearly tell Great Lady Huxley that you were willing to accept punishment for breaking the rules? Now, why are you avoiding responsibility? Are you still a man?”
After hearing the man speak, some people around him commented. They all seemed to be whispering and badmouthing Danny. This obviously made Grandma get big-headed and smile triumphantly.
Danny turned to the man and smiled faintly, “I'm willing to accept punishment if I make a mistake, but I didn't make a mistake at all. I didn't do what this woman is accusing me of!”
“Are you still denying that you cheated on Laura?” Grandmother asked in an intimidating tone.
“Huh! I've been married to Laura for three years, and I've always treated her like a queen, always respected her and haven't changed since. But that day, I caught her with Tom Harold in a hotel room in a very skimpy outfit. You can check it out at the Aragon Hotel.”
After listening to Danny's confession, the ballroom was suddenly excited. All eyes seemed to be glancing at Laura.
Laura tried to avoid looking at Danny. She didn't want him to see her flushed face, and what the guests were talking about now made her ears burn.
“The Huxley family's daughter is alone in the room with Tom Harold?” one of the guests asked.
“Looks like the Huxley family's daughter isn't as innocent as we thought.”
