Matthew returned to Grandma's birthday party with a bruised face this time. Blood was still seeping from his lips. He had deliberately not stopped by the hospital and treated his wound first to get sympathy from Grandma.
Inside the hall at Grandma's birthday party...
The atmosphere was suddenly quiet again.
"Is Matthew home yet?" asked Grandma, who had faintly heard the sound of her favorite grandson's Lamborghini sports car.
"I think it's Matthew," said Kelly, Desmond's wife.
Desmond glanced out the window, recognizing his son's white Lamborghini. The middle-aged man flashed a faint smile before turning back to the Huxleys. "My son has returned quickly. It was easy dragging that loser back here," Desmond sneered.
Grandmother nodded, smiled, and lifted her chin. "Matthew is indeed my most reliable grandson."
As she said this, Grandmother glanced at Anthony and her daughter Laura. As always, the old woman looked at Laura with a mocking gaze. In Grandmother's eyes, Laura's position was very low; apart from her beauty, her granddaughter had nothing to be proud of.
"All of you welcome Matthew and drag that loser here! Make him kneel before me and accept the punishment for his actions!" Grandmother ordered.
Desmond nodded and led the way to greet his son. Behind him were his wife and daughter. Anthony and his small family were at the end of the line. They both seemed reluctant to greet Matthew but to see Danny.
At that moment, everyone thought Matthew had managed to drag Danny back to his knees and admit his mistake. But they were shocked as soon as the young man got out of the car.
Matthew was the only one out of the car, and what was even more shocking was that Grandma's favorite grandson's face looked bruised and swollen.
"What happened to my son?" asked Kelly, covering her mouth with both hands.
Desmond and his wife immediately ran to their son and helped him walk. The grandmother who saw this was also shocked. This time, she gripped the armrest on the chair and grunted in annoyance.
"How could my precious grandson be injured like this? Did someone beat you up?" Grandma asked, looking worried.
Matthew was the only third-generation male in the Huxley family. The Huxley family's patriarchal beliefs made Matthew the family's most beloved and privileged grandson.
Matthew held his cheek and grinned in pain. Then the young brunette let out a long breath and said with a whimper, "It's all Laura's useless husband's doing."
"What did you say?" asked Desmond in surprise. The middle-aged man turned to Anthony and his wife with a sharp look. "Your son-in-law is a poor, useless man; how dare he beat up my precious son. Both of you must take responsibility for this!"
Anthony and Michelle looked at each other. Danny was their son-in-law; inevitably, what Danny did would make them indirectly involved.
"Huh, I'll rip his mouth out if I see him later," Anthony said with emphasis.
"Better yet, let's drag him to the police station and let him rot in jail!" Michelle added.
But Grandma shook her head; this old lady didn't like dealing with the police. She was worried that if word of this got out, it would affect the Huxley family's reputation.
"This problem should be solved in a family manner; we don't need to involve the police," Grandmother said as she glanced at Matthew, who was being treated for his wound by Susan.
Hearing the word "police," Matthew was shocked. He remembered what he had done to Danny. "If the police find out what I did, then I'll be the one in trouble."
"I agree with Grandma; we shouldn't go to the police. I guarantee that man won't dare appear in front of the Huxley family again," Matthew said, trying to cover up what he had done.
Desmond immediately glanced at his son. Every time he saw the wound on Matthew's face, the middle-aged man's blood began to boil. His face was so full of anger and resentment towards the useless son-in-law that he wanted to rip off all of Danny's skin and put him out in the sun.
"Matthew, what that useless son-in-law did has tarnished the face of the Huxley family. He should be taught a lesson!" exclaimed Desmond. The man smiled slightly and said," I know what to do to that man. I'll enlist the help of the underground fighter gang to beat him up!"
Desmond said this with hatred. Meanwhile, Matthew remained silent. Right now, he just hoped that Chuck and Ben would get rid of Danny's body and eliminate his trail.
On the way back to the hotel, Matthew had indeed contacted his two messengers to take care of Danny's body and throw it into the ravine.
"I agree with your plan, Desmond. Right now, you call the head of the underground fighter gang and ask them to beat Danny up. But remember, don't let him die! Because he has to stand before me and live up to the Huxley family rules!" said Grandma.
"I got it, Mom!" replied Desmond, grabbing his cell phone and trying to contact the gang members.
But before the call could be connected, the ballroom doors suddenly rang. That's when Chuck and Ben were thrown to the floor near the Huxley family members.
The two bouncers received several new wounds on their bodies; even their faces were full of blue bruises. Matthew, who saw this, gasped in shock.
'How did they get thrown here?' Matthew asked himself.
"Matthew, aren't they your men?" asked Anthony.
Before Matthew could answer, footsteps were heard from the doorway, breaking the silence. Slowly, the Huxley family members turned their heads toward the door.
Danny stood proudly, his eyes glaring as if challenging every member of the Huxley family who was there.
Matthew, who saw Danny's arrival, gasped. This time, his face seemed to freeze. His hand pointed at Danny, who was slowly approaching them. 'How could he be here? Didn't he just...'
Matthew tried to look for the stab wound on his cousin's husband's chest, but he couldn't find it at all. 'What happened?
"Did I miss the party this afternoon?" Danny asked with a mocking look.
