DAMIEN Nova grabs my arm and yanks me back, forcing me to stop and really look around. Students are staring at me like they’re watching something break apart in real time. Fear. Shock. Judgment. All of it aimed at me. “Don’t,” Nova says firmly. “You’re not thinking straight. You want to find her, right? Hurting Eli right now won’t help. It’ll only make things worse.” She’s right. I hate that she’s right. Instead of swinging at him, I turn on the people watching. The ones whispering. The ones feeding off this. “What the hell are you all staring at?” I shout. “Mind your own damn business.” Rage burns through me, hot and reckless.
