Derrick’s Pov.
I ran back as fast as I could to the mansion, hoping to the moon goddess that I would see Sophia hidden in that secret cabinet.
As I ascended the stairs and looked around my room, I couldn’t find her. The secret compartment in my room was yet to be touched.
“Could she have escaped?”, I asked as I searched also for any signs of her blood but couldn’t find any. It would have been my heart’s greatest joy if she had escaped but I had an eerie feeling when I traced her lingering scent down to the staircase and couldn’t find it anymore.
I searched through the front gate and back but I couldn’t find her.
My wolf asked me to check behind the mansion and when I did, I managed to pick up her faint smell.
“She escaped.”
Since marking her, Sophia’s scent was much stronger for me
