I was walking in the garden. The place felt so serene and peaceful. I felt more at peace than I've ever felt before. I looked around the beautiful flowers, following a path that led me to a small pond. It was so beautiful and surrounded by roses of different colors. I saw a small swing beneath a tree just close to the pond, I walked over to it and sat. I was still marveling at the scenery before me that I realise I had company until they spoke ."It's such a beautiful place isn't it? " she said.
"Yes, it is. " I said, not looking away from the flowers.
"It's always been my special place. It's my favorite place in the whole mansion. " she said. For the first time I looked up and I was met with the most beautiful baby blue eyes I've ever seen. There is only one person that I know with that eye color. My mom.
As if she heard my internal question she said ,"Yes princess ,it's me. "
"But how? " I asked in confusion.
"You'll find out soon enough. For now you have to wake up. "
"But I'm awake. Aren't I? "I said with more confusion than before. "No, my princess. You are still asleep. It's time to wake up. "
"Mom, you're confusing me. What's going on? " I said.
"You'll find out soon enough. It's time. "she said walking away from me.
"It's time for what mom? " I asked. My voice laced with desperation and confusion. She didn't answer me though. She just kept on walking. "Mom. "I called out to her but she didn't answer.
"Mom. Don't leave me please. " I begged but still, she kept on walking until all I saw was a flicker.
"MOM" I called one last time before I felt wetness on my cheeks. I raised my hand to wipe them and realised that it was my tears. There was a small breeze that dried the tears. I was starting to get relaxed again but something started shaking me.
I woke up to Suzi sitting before me. "Are you OK? You were yelling in your sleep." she said.
"I'm fine. It's just a dream."
"What was it about? " she asked.
"Nothing much. Just mom saying I had to wake up ".i said.
"Did she say anything else?"
"No. She just said that I should wake up. "
"OK sweetie. " she said. I watched her shoulders visibly relax. She let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding.
"Suzi? "
"Yes princess. "
"What did she mean when she said I should wake up? " I asked and I felt her body stiffen. She cleared her throat and said, "Maybe it's because you weren't sleeping properly and would've hurt your neck if you didn't wake up. "
"Are you sure? "
"Yes dear. I am. " She said, averting her eyes. She wasn't much of a liar and I knew she was lying to me. She knew what mom was talking about, even though it was just a dream I could feel there was more to it.
"OK. If you say so. What time is it? "
" It's almost midnight. I'm going back to bed. Do you need anything? "
"No I'm good. Good night. "
"OK. Good night. "She said as she walked out the door. I became more convinced that there was more to this than what she let on. I couldn't argue with her though, I wanted her to tell me the full story. I don't want the last incident to repeat itself. It's hard enough that kids my age are intimidated by me, I don't want my aunt to feel the same way.
The last time I argued with her I got so angry that she was afraid of me. I don't know why because tiny at five foot. But she seemed afraid so I left her alone to cool down. I stared at the ceiling thinking about my mom, surprisingly I always have dreams about mom but not dad. I became so caught up in the thought until sleep eventually embraced me into its arms.
