Andris’ dark eyes were focused on the old book in front of him. The pages weathered and yellowing at the tips. Sneaking a peek over his shoulder, I realized the book was in French. Andris chuckles a sound that rarely ever emerges from his lips. It was a deep and mysterious sound. “My little hybrid, is there something you need?” Andris raises his eyes from the book looking at me seriously. “I’ve been here for like ever, and I still have no idea how to maneuver through this place.” “You’ve been here for five days….” Andris replies bluntly. Glaring at him slightly, I push his muscled arm lightly. Enjoying the pulsating pleasure that radiated off of the simple touch. Placing the book down on the small table beside him, He pulls me into his lap. Eyeing my body shamelessly. One arm is wrapped around my waist, while the other one is resting on my thigh. “Andris,” I say softly, as a blush is staining my cheeks. He barely acknowledged me. “What if someone walks in?” I say, pulling myself away from him. “They would see a man sitting in a chair, with a woman in his lap.” Andris says calmly, unemotionally. Sighing, I begin to fight the comfort I feel in his arms and attempt to push him away. Andris’ arms tighten, and I knew I couldn’t break his grip. He is much stronger than I will ever be. Looking into his dark orbs, I expect to see possessiveness or anger at attempting to leave. Instead, I see amusement. His head dips downwards, placing a burning, tantalizing kiss on my forehead, before allowing me to escape. I climb out of his arms only to watch him pick up his book and resume reading again. Not a hint of emotion on his face. Stupid Vampires and their emotions. Fine then. I’ll explore by myself. Making sure to project my thoughts to a certain dark-eyed vamp. His chuckle follows me as I leave the room, losing myself in the maze-like halls of this magnificent mansion. “What are you doing here?” She sneers, her voice holding venom. Her blonde hair pulled up into a bun, her green eyes sharp. “I don’t know, maybe I’m staying with my mate.” I snap back, glaring at her. “Which one?” She doesn’t even miss a beat. “I don’t know, I mean I am in a house full of vampires. I must be staying with my werewolf mate…” She laughs, “It’s fitting for you to have a mate that is an actual dog, considering you are a mutt of the supernatural species.” I glare at her, anger burning in my stomach. “You don’t have to give me that look,” she says innocently, even though she is anything but. “I don’t but I will, considering it’s my ‘oh look a b***h look’.” I say. She smiles, it’s not even a happy smile, more like a cold and evil one. “Vampires are superior, and hybrids are mistakes.” “You sound like Hitler,” I say bluntly. “b***h,” she sneered. “At least I don’t go around whipping people.” “At least I am not a pathetic mistake. Do you think anybody wants a hybrid? They are an upset to the balance….” She seems ready to continue, but Liam interrupts her. “If you feel that way about hybrids, you must feel that way about yourself as well?” Liam said, and he sounded calm and informative. Not like he was attempting to hurt her. Her glare faltered when her eyes landed on Liam, “How does that work?” She asks, a gentle smile on her face. “All supernatural creatures are technically mistakes, saying you’re better than another species is purely ignorant.” Her mouth fell open, her eyes wide. Before she could comment, Liam grabbed my arm and gently dragged me away. Before I could help it, I burst out laughing. Liam looks at me confused before leading me to the kitchen. How does he know this place better than I do? When we walk into the kitchen, we hear an argument. Between none other than Andris and his sister. “Admit it. You hate the fact that she is a hybrid, and that you have to share.” Andris rolls his eyes, “What are you trying to do sister?” “I’m trying to get you to see. She’s only going to bring you down.” She muttered, sounding bitter. “You know what, you’re right, absolutely right. I hate that I have to share……” Andris says, “happy now?” “No,” she says, “Admit the fact that you hate that she is a hybrid…” “Fine dear sister, I hate that my mate is a hybrid.” Swallowing loudly, my eyes burn. Andris turns around, finally recognizing my presence and he stares at me emotionlessly. I place my hand to my abdomen, blinking back tears. “I’m going to go now,” I say softly, walking out of the room. Andris’ sister’s glare imprinted into my mind…
