Haru’s Point of View He gave Rin a cigarette after lighting his own and watched her light hers. Both of them were silent. There was just the sound of the leaves on the trees rustling due to the wind. Haru debated about what topic to talk about with Rin. He did not want a heavy atmosphere and make her uncomfortable. As he was the one who asked her to come, he felt responsible for it. Haru was still thinking about a topic when Rin spoke. “Haru?” He turned his head towards her and replied, “Yes?” She said, “Can I ask you something?” Haru nodded his head. Rin asked, “I know it may sound weird but did we know each other in the past or something? I do not remember meeting you though.” Haru was startled. He was not sure what she meant by it. Was it because I am being extremely friendly by asking her for lunch and all? He looked at her. She was looking at the cherry blossom tree. He replied, “Umm, I do not think we knew each other in the past but yesterday I sat near you in the first class. You do not remember?” She looked embarrassed and said, “That was you? I am sorry. I vaguely remember someone sitting near me but I did not know it was you.” Haru was a little disheartened hearing that but smiled. He said, "It is okay. Do not worry about that. And by the way, why did you ask if we knew each other?" Rin looked a little confused but said, "Oh no it's nothing. I was just asking about it. No other reason." Haru replied, “Oh okay” even though her answer was not even a teeny bit convincing. He did not want Rin to think that he was pushy so he did not ask more about it. They continued smoking in silence for a while. After they were done, Haru initiated a conversation and they talked about what classes they had tomorrow. They also talked about where they stayed and found out that Rin lived around a ten-minute drive from Haru’s house. Haru checked the time after remembering that he had to get home by 4 pm. It was 3:30 pm. “How did one hour pass by so fast?” he thought. Haru said, “Hey Rin? I need to go home now. There’s some work I need to attend to by 4 pm. I am sorry. I asked you to come and I feel like I am bailing out on you.” Rin shook her head and said, “No it is fine. Do not worry about that.” She smiled at him and Haru felt his heartbeat fast. “This woman is going to be the death of me”, he thought. Haru could not help but smile at her. After that, he said bye to her and started driving back to his home. He did not want to leave her behind but he had no choice. He was glad that he was getting closer to Rin. There were about two weeks left and Haru felt ever so determined to do everything he can to save her. He drove out to the road from the isolated place and hoped that she remains as joyful as she had seemed today. He reached home at ten minutes to four. He rang the doorbell and his mother opened the door. He went straight to his room, closed and locked the door. He started changing into black sweatpants and a black shirt. He picked up the clothes he wore today and folded them. He was about to go out into the living room when Rin’s thrown crumpled paper caught his eyes. He went and sat on his study desk. He picked it up and held it. He could not muster up his courage to read it but he still could not let it go. It was a reminder for him. A reminder that he needed to save her. He folded it and put it into his pocket. Just when he was about to get up, his mother knocked on his door. He unlocked the door, opened it, and said, "Yes mom?" She said, "They are here. And your father is here too. Come to the living room, sweetie." "Okay, mom" Haru replied and walked to the living room. He sat down on the sofa and waited for the doorbell to ring. After about a minute, it rang. Haru went and opened the car. The first person who came in was his father. “Good, you are home.” His father said. "Yes, father" Haru replied. After his father, came in his grandfather. The moment his grandfather saw him, he smiled and hugged Haru. Haru then helped his grandfather walk to the sofa. Behind them were his two uncles. They were his father’s younger brothers. Haru went to close the door. His mother came in and greeted them. She gestured Haru to come into the kitchen. Haru and his mother served them tea and his father has gotten back from changing. They were all seated and his grandfather asked him to come to sit near him. Haru politely answered okay and sat down. His mother went back into the kitchen. His father and his uncles talked about things that Haru cared nothing about. All of those talks did not matter. What he wanted to know about were vision and that strange force. He was waiting for the right moment to ask his grandfather. His grandfather spoke, “I would like to speak to Haru alone so we will be going into his room.” His father looked stunned. He said, “May I ask why father?” His grandfather shot a glare at Haru’s father. His father said, “I am sorry father.” Haru’s grandfather turned to him and said, “Come Haru “. Haru nodded and helped him walk towards his room. They reached and his grandfather told him to lock the door. “So Haru, the reason I came here today is to talk about visions and the role of vision holders of our family. Will you listen about our generation’s past?” his grandfather said. "Yes, grandpa," Haru replied unaware of what will be unveiled.
