Rin’s Point of View
She was still a little tired but most of the ache she felt in her body was gone. She slowly straightened her back and as soon as she did that, she felt Haru near her.
He spoke, “Do you want me to make the bed a little higher?”
Rin nodded. He searched for the buttons that controlled the bed and then pressed it for the upper part of the bed to become higher. He adjusted it while asking her for the right height.
After he was done, Rin rested her body on it.
She asked, “How long was I asleep for?”
He replied, “About an hour.”
Rin nodded and smiled at him.
She felt sad as she remembered the earlier dream she had. However, she hurriedly pushed it out of her head.
Just then the nurse came in. As soon as she saw Rin, she smiled.
She asked her, “How are you feeling now?”
Rin smiled back at her and spoke, “Much better.”
She did some necessary routine checkups. Then she spoke, "Your sugar level is a little low, other than that you are completely fine."
Then she turned to Haru and spoke, “Can you give her something to eat?”
Rin watched as Haru nodded.
Then the nurse left the room.
Rin watched as Haru stood up and then walked to the table where the basket was kept. He took out some containers, a plate, a spoon, and a mug. Then he opened the containers and then scooped some food and placed it on the plate. He also opened a flask and poured some hot liquid on the mug. He placed it on a tray and brought it towards the bed.
Rin pulled the folded table that was attached to the bed so that Haru could place the tray on it.
After he placed it on the table, Rin could smell it and it smelled delicious. It had been a long time since she had this feeling of food smelling like ‘home’.
Rin could not help but ask, “Where did you bring the food from?” and then looked at Haru.
Haru smiled and replied, “My mom cooked it. I just bought it two hours ago.”
Rin smiled and thought, “That is the reason it felt like home.”
She was hungry, so she started eating it. This time, she could eat on her own.
After three to four spoons, she looked at Haru and asked him to join her. He politely refused by saying that he had already eaten. Rin nodded and then continued eating. She recalled that this was her first meal in about two days. No wonder she was hungry.
After she was done, Haru took the tray and then put it back in the basket.
*After a while*
Rin was taking into notice; her surroundings. She was not in an ordinary hospital room. The room she was in looked more comfortable and it had an attached bathroom, which was not available in those other rooms. She thought about it and had an idea why she was in this room.
She looked at Haru. He was sitting on the sofa while putting his phone on charge. She called out to him, “Haru?”
As soon as she did that, Haru turned and hurriedly walked over to her. When he reached, he asked, “Is everything fine? Are you in pain?”
Rin was a little stunned to see Haru worrying so much over her. She could not understand it but she continued to say what she wanted to ask.
“When did my father come and shifted me into this room?”
Haru looked a little shocked by what she had just asked him. She watched as he quickly recover and then he spoke.
“After you were brought into the hospital, I called him. So, two days ago he came and shifted you here.”
Rin nodded and spoke, “Then he did not come here at all, right?”
Haru’s eyes widened but he nodded.
Rin smiled at Haru. But inside, it was hurting her. Not only did her father talk about replacing her mother, but he also did not even stay near her. She understood that he was not going to be there. Just like what he did to her mother.
Just then she realized something. After she came out of the house for a smoke, she had jumped off a building. She clearly remembered herself falling. She could also remember her body becoming cold as she was lying on the ground. She even remembered that she accepted her death. After all that, how was she still alive?
She was confused.
How will she know how she survived?
