Chapter 38: Tired and Exhausted but Alive.

Rin’s Point of View

As Rin gained consciousness, she heard someone say, “Give her something to eat when she wakes up, okay?”

Then she heard a voice reply, “Okay, I will do that.” The voice sound familiar to her. She had heard that voice somewhere. She slowly opened her eyes to see the person. As she opened her eyes, the light was too bright for her. So she raised her hand and put it over her eyes.

As soon as she did that, she heard a voice say, “Is the light too bright? Wait, let me turn it off, and then I will open the curtain." The light was turned off and Rin put her hand back on the bed. Then she opened her eyes. As soon as she did, she tried to get up. She heard the voice again, “Let me help you up”.

Then Rin recognized that it was Haru who had been speaking. Haru helped Rin sit up on the bed. After she was comfortable, she was not sure what she should say. Her body was aching. Then she heard Haru speak, “Rin. Here is some soup. Please eat?”

Rin nodded and thanked him. She tried to raise her hand and pick up the spoon. However, the IV drip that was put in her hand was making it hard to pick up the spoon. She heard Haru say, “Here, let me feed you.”

Rin was tired and hungry. So she nodded. She opened her mouth as Haru started feeding her. Her mouth that had felt dried up was now soothed. She swallowed the soup. She did not have any sense of taste. However, she continued eating it.

*After a while*

Rin was leaning on her bed. A nurse came into the room. She took her blood pressure. She checked her heart rate. Then she asked, “Are you feeling okay? You have been asleep for forty eight hours.”

“Forty eight hours?” she thought. She was shocked to hear that. However, she replied, "Yes, I am fine." Her voice was extremely soft that the nurse started to look worried.

The nurse looked at Haru and asked, “Did you give her some food?”

Haru replied, “Yes I did. I fed her some soup. After a while, I will feed her something solid to eat. Is that fine?”

The nurse looked back at Rin and smiled, “Yes that is fine. Press the button near the bed if anything happens. I will come back in an hour to change her IV drip.” Then she left.

Rin started to feel sleepy. She just heard that she was asleep for forty eight hours but she was feeling weak and exhausted.

Then she heard Haru speak, “Rin? Do you want anything? I can get you anything you want.”

Rin looked at him and spoke, “Nope. I do not think that I want anything. By the way, the nurse said that I have been asleep for forty eight hours. How long have you been here? Judging by your face, you look like you have not slept well.” Her voice was still soft but looking at Haru, she knew that he heard it all.

Haru smiled at her and whispered.

“You do not have to worry about that. Just get better Rin.”

As soon as she heard that, she fell asleep.
