“Honey hurry up, we are going to be late.” Leonard Avery yelled at his wife who was busy applying her makeup on her face. “I am coming baby, I need to look good today, it's our daughter's graduation and I want everyone to know her mum is still good-looking and cute.” Aura said, continuing with her makeup. “You've been making up, for God knows how long," Leonard said, arranging the gifts he bought for his daughter. "You know, you're making me wonder if it's your day or your daughter's day. He laughed, shaking his head at her. “Both love, it's both our day. See I'm all set, let's go." She said assisting her husband with carrying the gifts. They got into the car and drove off. Their daughter Camilla Avery just turned 20 today, also today happens to be her graduation. A day of double celebration for Avery's family. Leonard wanted his beloved baby girl to be happy. He had decorated the house with flowers, while most of the gifts were waiting for her at home, including a car and a key to her own house. It's not every day that someone turns 20 and graduates as the best student in her department. No parents wouldn't be proud of their child on a day like this. Leonard's phone rang and his wife quickly picked up the call. “Hello princess." Her mum answered, calling her daughter by her pet name. “Mum it's almost time, every parent is seated here except mine. Today is suppose to be my special day but you and dad are ruining it for me.” Camilla grumbled through the phone. Leonard was quite distracted, looking at his wife, and trying to get the phone from her so as to talk to his daughter. But she signaled him to stop disturbing her and concentrate on driving. “Sorry love, we are on our way now. Just wait for us a little, I love you princess.” Aura replied her daughter. “I will only love you back when you and dad get here on time." She yelled through the phone. He turned to her again, continuously tapping her to give him the phone but she raised an eyebrow at him, shaking her head vigorously. She removed the phone from her ear, covered the mouthpiece with her hand, and said. "No, stop it, love, concentrate on the road, we will see our baby when we get to her school. She removed her hand and placed the phone on her ear. "Sorry baby we are..." A car halted automatically right at the front of theirs and there wasn't any time left for them to avert the car, they crashed right into the car and their car flipped over so many times before coming to a halt. The shout of people was heard as every car halted and people came out of their cars to see if the victims were still alive. CAMILLA I heard the crashing sound, the phone was still on but nobody was talking, the terrifying shouts from people, car horns were blasting loud inside my ear. I knew what had happened but my mind wouldn't register it, I couldn't believe my parents just got into an accident. With a loud scream, I ran out of the hall and everybody's eyes were on me. I could hear my friends Jacob, Nathaniel, Blake, Cammy, and Jane. They were all screaming my name as they ran after me. I didn't care about anything, nothing else mattered, all I wanted was to go meet my parents and be with them. Happily. I was about to run towards the road when I was dragged into the firm chest of Lincoln Adien Once in his arms, I wept hard. I was still crying when my phone started ringing. I couldn't pick up, one of my friends did, a stranger said I should hurry to the scene. With Lincoln and my friends beside me, we drove to the scene just in time to see the ambulance taking the corpse of my parents away. My world came crumbling, my whole universe shattered before my eyes. My life for the first time since I was born lost its meaning. I just became an orphan on the day that was meant to be the happiest day of my life. Soon the burial ceremony was held and my parents were laid to rest at a private mortuary. With friends, family members, and relatives present to pay their last respect. When we got home, my uncles and aunties were all seated waiting for the lawyers to come read the will. My fate would be determined by who the companies would be given to. I'll have to live under the care of whoever my parents trusted with their wealth, I'll have to start with a family I know nothing about. The universe was being cruel to me. The will was read and everyone was shocked and surprised that my parents willed everything to me and soon they started leaving, not quite long after, I was left alone with gifts I never got a chance to open. I have to get used to the loneliness, this was going to be my fate forever.
