CHAPTER 3

1525 Words
Tinuke, one of the crusade attendee, visited her friend, Mary,in her shop. The compliments were esthetic, short but revealing the purpose of the visit. '...Ha! Mary it's true. 'Eh! I've never seen a crusade where the lame just walk without been touched.' 'Hoo! That's the least of it my dear. The one that qset me on my fret was the dead child who was raised just with his body touching the crusade ground.' 'Aah! Tinuke! The miracles are so uncountable.' 'In fact, God bless Pastor Kunle. He's a real man of God. ' 'Amen. You can say that again. ' 'Mary, allow me purchase some items over there,in order to be back home quickly. I need to prepare for today's crusade. I must not be late.' ******************************** Dropping from the second bus,the village was described. It's no longer far. It can even be trekked within a period of an hour. The driver pitted their situation and led them off a bit. 'Sir, can we get something to buy around here? We haven't eaten since yesternight.' Frank humbly questioned. 'We even slept in the bush till this morning. No water,no food,no exchange of clothe or anything.' Johnson expanciated, using a side to support Joyce's movement; a lady who now feels too weak to speak or walk. The driver pointed to a nearby food seller and returned. In no time, they were there. Everyone ate. Frank fed his wife and by grace, she ate a bit. 'Babe,I won't be able to partially set your feet to walk again. Try to walk. Everyone is tired.' Frank frankly opposed his wife's dependency. There was no response by the lady. All waited, trying to rest. 'Carry her. That's the bus garage, it's not far.' The food seller pleaded, viewing Joyce as if almost dead. Joyce tried, with the help of the nurse, she stood but something happened on the spot. The ground was full, the food seller rushed her, even the men were confused. It was another flow of water, coming out with a little blood mixed with a white substance, looking like phlegm. 'Again?' Frank anxiously wondered. 'Again!' The midwife couldn't keep her emotions under control anymore. Without a second thought, she required for an explanation. 'Can someone just explain to me, whatttt's happening?' ******************************** The duty of a mother has never been a lazy one; full of emotions and obligations. Much effort must have been expended by the parents before a child becomes an happy adult. Hmmm! What other choice remains for this humble lady since her husband requires for the presence of the sick kid? She signed a derma form and successfully traveled to Arare. All her believe centers on is the assurance of the child's healing. It was so fast. The bus sped off in an unlikely manner. Just three and half hours, they were there. Too disgraceful, how will the Pastor's son be sick? The villagers wondered how possible. Pastor Kunle, assured of God's mightiness and easy answers to prayers, brought the boy to his bed and prayed. ******************************** 'I told you friend, some men of God are not trustworthy. ' 'I don't know you are on my side. I wonder why they are easily believed. ' 'They come under the pretense of saving lives for God. After a little preaching, they start the altar call. Whereas,we don't know who they are working for, either God or devil.' One of the men hissed. The two silently discussing the earlier seen occurrence in relations to the miracles performed the previous day, beside the outside bathroom wall. Never knew,Pastor Kunle was inside the bathroom, willing to urinate. 'I even expect him to touch the kid and immediately he should be healed.' 'Why will his kid even be sick to that extent? As powerful as he is!' 'Ehn! Let's accept it's spiritual. But,he has been praying for an hour, still, no solution.' Pastor Kunle couldn't bear it anymore. He's confused either to move out or ease himself before going. He had heard enough. In few seconds, he moved out. The two were shocked. With much respect, they greeted him as they doubled their steps. ******************************* Once again in the room. Deborah had tiredly slept off. Peter's case remains the same, maybe even worsened. The whole environment was still. Pastor Kunle looked up to God as he usually do. 'God,what happened?' The Holy Spirit told him his words had put someone in b*****e and just in the same way, the family is groaning . 'Me?!' Pastor Kunle tried recalling who. Thinking amind,he reminded how forgiving he has been, always trying to avoid temptations of being angry. But God cannot lie. With all willingness to see God's doing in his son's miracle, he heartily prayed for whoever it might be. ******************************* Quickly, the food seller laid a wrapper behind her shop, not too far from the bush. Standing firm on her words, Aunty Nurse refused to touch the lady if not aware of the situation. In much haste,Frank rushly hit the nails on it's head, pleading for her immediate assistance. Hearing the said words, all eagerness and emotions came forth. The food seller hastily back off,not wanting to be part of the evil catastrophe. Glory be to God, Aunty Nurse was also noticed to be a prayerful being. Doing what she was good at again, she took a bit groundnut oil, prayed to it and anointed the woman. Praying in every process she embarks on,also quoting the Word, the situation seems more simpler. 'I can feel the head of the baby.' 'Gooooood!' Both Frank and Johnson shouted, raising their hands in praise. Feeling too surprised, Aunty Nurse questioned the reason behind the scream. It's just the head, she has not delivered yet. They ought to pray first. 'We will. ' 'We will.' Both answered but started dancing, which in return called for the attention of the food seller. She came to help in the delivery. Safely, she was delivered and healed of her pains. It was a baby boy, taking after the resemblance of the father. 'Wan! Wan! Wan!.....' The baby cried,he's much okay. Cleaned, dressed up and well fed,the new boy slept. Frank full of worrying of no diapers wore for him, went with Johnson into the village in search of one, but,to no avail. After two hours,Frank suggests going back home since the solution has been achieved. 'What of Pastor Kunle's blessings?' Johnson asked. 'We will visit him when he's back. We would have rest a while.' Answered Frank. 'I'm afraid another evil might happen on the way. Let's just see him.' The fearful Joyce contributed. 'In my own view,it seems the baby has urinary difficulties. ' Aunty Nurse suggested. All ears were attentive. 'I'm sorry to suggest that too early. I only noticed he hasn't urinated since and has been sucking.' 'It's true.' Said Frank. Others nodded. If true, what can be the consequence? Aunty Nurse explained the tube that will be passed into the baby's bladder to help till he is old enough for operation. 'Hmm! I'll say my own. The prophet and the local doctor asked you to visit someone, you are unwilling. (Turning to the woman, she continued) Lady,I pity you a lot, you are the owner of the child. The man can marry another.' The food seller stood up to answer a customer. No other person mentioned a word. All stood up,appreciating the food seller in cash. Straight to the garage they went. Her words almost coming true, the baby still did not wet his pant till they reach the village. Much supplications rendered, Pastor Kunle must be seen. ******************************* The village is so silent. It is as if someone died. No one look happy or encouraging. Most gathered in front of a hut where a .an was seen to be kneeling down beside the bed of his mute son. Either alive or dead,he can't really say. Pastor Kunle kept interceeding for his kid. So sorrowful, how will the crusade continue? Once,he softly heard the voice of God, asking him to look up. So wonderful! Pastor Kunle recognized Frank and his wife. They both with Brother Johnson walked on their knees to meet Pastor Kunle. 'What happened?!' Pastor curiously questioned. 'We've offended you.' 'How?' The explanations began. 'If I'm not mistaken, this is your baby?' 'Yes,but he's unable to urinate.' Pastor left his son to pray for the baby. All standing villagers watched expectantly. Just few words said, the unexpected urine went high landing on Peter. As if it's a call,Peter sat up happily, smiling as if the urine was a joke. Both Deborah and Joyce jumped, hugging their children jovially. One of the crowd started singing and others joined, even in dancing. The remaining villagers came to witness the saga. 'Ehn-en!' 'Ah!' 'Eeeh!' They kept wondering. Bro Frank regretted his actions, promising to teach the unmarried to always say the truth. 'Wouldn't it have been better to do a court wedding and deliver safely than all this trials?' Bro Frank continued in regrets. 'Bro Frank, I will never call God to action again. Even if I'm assured someone is lying,I will ask God to forgive him. I didn't know God will prove Himself to this extent! I'm sincerely sorry for all the stress you must have passed through.' 'Baby, your name is Miracle.'
