The casino had a few customers. It was not its business booming hour.Darkness brought its customers flooding in.It was only eight in the morning then.Wakinah was not a new appearance there. She was a regular customer especially on the weekends.People seemed to be delighted every time she made an appearance there. Her company was always pleasant, especially to the men.She never let herself cosy with any of them though. She only went there for their money. They all seemed to be distracted by her charm that they never minded this. They showered her with money any time she needed it.Sadly,it was never enough to fulfil all her needs and wants. She knew the manager of the casino, immediately she entered, she walked straight to his office ignoring the warm greetings she received as she passed. The door looked different, maybe it had been given a polish, she thought. She knocked once and let herself in.The young was seated behind the newly furnished mahogany desk in a cosy leather office chair.A bunch of papers lay on the desk infront of him.Wakinahs presence did not distract him from what he was doing. She sat on the chair on the opposite side of the desk and waited for his attention. After he was satisfied with the papers,he arranged them perfectly and pushed them aside slightly."Good.He said. What can I do for you,my lovely Gem?"He said with a warm smile on his face.He did not smile much but Wakinahs presence seemed to be one of the things that made him do so. She ignored this and put a straight face. She put her hands on the desk and clenched them together."What is wrong with you?"She asked in a serious tone."Why ?"He asked ,now with a genuinely concerned tone."Madrinals son!Are you kidding me?"She said with a weak voice at the end."I agreed to work with you only if you provide us targets who would not pose harm .You almost got us killed you idiot." "But you aint."He said with a smile. "That was just luck. But dont worry,I took care of it."She said. "I knew you would."He said still smiling. She could not take it anymore. She stood from the chair and her way to the door."Wait!"He said suddenly. He stood up from his cosy seat and walked to the window. It was large and made of glass with no window sills. It gave him a clear view of the beautiful city .He stood right by the curtains that he only let free from its locks when the sun went down. Wakinsh stood on her tracks, she was not sure whether to stop or not.She stood there for a while looking back at her shoulder."Do you love him Wakinah?"He asked in a low tone. His voice was full of disappointment. It clearly showed how much pain the truth of that question posed on him.She remained still, now facing the floor. She swallowed a huge gulp and closed her eyes."Well,do you?"He asked again, still looking into the city."Sir,whom..whom are you talking about?"She asked as she turned to face him.She knew whom he was referring to but she did not want to be the one spilling her own beans."Jabal told me what you did.You had them fooled. They seriously thought that you had backed down on them."He said. "Uh,that...I only did that to protect us.He had unmasked us.We could not risk him going to report us to the authorities."She said smiling. Her smile was weak and evidently fake. She was nervous."Jabal never lies to me Wakinah.Where did you take him?Did you finish the job?"He asked. His tone remained unchanged. He was not joking.
