CHAPTER 16

862 Words
PHILIP'S POV The door opened to an unfamiliar face staring at me with a grim expression. Had I come into the wrong building? I had seen Grandpa's car ride into this same building so why was this person opening the door instead of Trisha? “Looking for someone?” Her voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “I guess so. I'm looking for Trisha,”I said as I tried to look through the window to see if I could catch a glimpse of her because I was sure that this was the right house I had seen her entering. “There's no one named Trisha here, you've got the wrong address,”she muttered with a tone of Anger in her tone. She was about closing the door when I held it, “Please, I want to see her. I know she's here. I just want to see her,”I pleaded as I held the door. “Let go of this door Mr, or else I call the security to come throw you out even if you are a Carter.” And with that she banged the door heavily on my face. Of course I was right, this was where Trisha lives. Harrison had been trying to locate her house for a while but to no avail. Harrison had heard from Grandpa that she and the little girl were involved in an accident. I had gone to meet Grandpa to let me know the hospital but he refused and told me to keep my distance away from them. “Trisha! Trisha!” I shouted hoping she would hear my voice and come out. I just wanted to make sure that they were both okay. I knew the announcement event would be the best opportunity to finally know where she lives as Grandpa would have thought that I wouldn't attend the event because he knew about the guilt and misery I was in. I had parked my car across the hall where the party was held, while I and Harrison waited patiently for the party to end so we could tail after them. I had seen her side face when she entered the car but I just wanted to at least see her closed up. Ever Since Trisha's return, my nights were more miserable than when she had disappeared the first time. There's nothing I do that doesn't remind me of her. She had invaded all my thoughts. Seeing her at the office was torture but I had kept my distance because of Grandpa. Not because of his threats, but because I didn't want Trisha to feel uncomfortable. Seeing no one coming out of the house, I walked with heavy strides back to the car with anger coursing through me. Was I humoring myself? I was worried about her a while ago, but now I'm angry that she didn't acknowledge my presence. “To the hotel, Harrison,”I said as I laid back on the seat with my eyes closed. I haven't gone back home for a while now. Seeing Lola's face everyday was like a scar that I couldn't erase. It was going to be one hell of a night. I still couldn't get the thought of the little girl from my mind. Everything in me was telling me that that little was mine but there was no way Trisha would be pregnant without Dr James knowing. “Harrison, set an appointment with Dr James soon.” “Okay sir Philip,”he replied as he drove the car through the silent night. “Do you think I did her wrong by letting her go?”I asked with my head still resting on the car headrest and my eyes were still closed. “Huh?”Harrison asked as he was surprised I had asked him a question. “If you really loved her, you would have fought for her despite everything.” Those words rang in my brain as my eyes fluttered open. “To the dynasty club.” I had changed my route as I needed to go cool off before heading back to the hotel. “Yes Boss,”he said as he made a quick U-turn with car tyres screeching loudly. As I walked into the club, a man quickly rushed towards me, “Welcome Mr Philip. Let me lead you to the private room,”he said as he bowed in greetings. My heart was so heavy as I sat on the sofa in the private room. I chuckled sadly as I thought of Harrison's response to my question earlier. Who would have thought that he was skilled in the matters of the heart? as I had never seen him with any woman all these years he had been working with me. Harrison had been my PA since the day I had started working at the company. Not wanting to suppress my grief anymore, I stood up and headed out. As I was about to get into the car, a black Volkswagen sped quickly past me. I squinted my eyes as I stared at the car. That was Lola's car. What was she doing here?
