PHILIP'S POV
I ordered the driver to drive as fast as he could to Eric's school. The school authority had called me. They said it was an emergency that needed my attention.
Walking into the premises, I could hear that annoying voice that always churned my stomach so badly. If she was already here, why did they have to call me?
Getting closer to where Eric and Lola were sitting, my eyes went red as I saw the multiple scratches on Eric's face.
What had happened to him? Who dares to do such a thing to him?
It was the school head that first noticed my presence as he bowed to greet me.
“Mr Carter.” I walked past him as I got to where Eric was sitting.
“What happened to him?”I asked with my gaze on Eric but my question was directed to the school head.
He stuttered as he tried to find the right words to speak.
“H-e wa-s involved in a fight with one of the school students,”he managed to speak with his head still down.
“Where the hell is that good for nothing child that did this to my precious son. How could you let this happen? How could you let a filthy child lay his filthy hands on my child? I am going to sue you, this school, that miserable child and his miserable family for what has happened.”
“Lola, can you keep your voice down and keep shut as well?” shutting her and her usual drama she always carried with her.
“Where is the kid that did this to him? Have you informed the parents?”
The school head was already shaking at Lola’s threat as it was no news that she had once sued an entire school when a student mistakenly bumped into Eric at his previous school.
“Sh-e's at th-e the school infirmary as she had suffered from a nose bleeding as a result of the fight and yes I have called her guardian and she's on her way,” the school head said with his head bow.
Hearing those words from the school head, all my exasperation washed off.
A girl did this to him? And she also suffered a nosebleed which was way more dangerous than the scratches Eric had on his face.
“How is she?”
The school head raised his head in surprise,
“She's doing quite well, the school nurse is attending to her.”
Lola got up enraged,
“Is this what you're supposed to be asking? You are supposed to be punishing this bald old fool as well as that wretched girl who did this to him.”
I tried within me to contain my emotions. This Lola's attitude was the more reason why I had decided for Eric to go live in the mansion and not with us,not wanting Lola's bad attitude to rub off on him.
“Good afternoon sir Henry.” We all turned at the familiar voice. It was Trisha. Did she follow me? Obviously that was not the case because she hated my guts so much.
My doubts were cleared when she spoke up again,
“You called me, you said it”she paused for a minute as her gaze fell on Lola and I.
“was urgent,”she finished her statement as she averted her eyes from us and stared at the school head.
My gaze shifted to Lola whose face was paled as if she had just seen a ghost and she quickly adjusted her expression.I could tell from her expression that she also noticed that a lot had changed about Trisha.Her poise,her aura and even her stares weren't the same anymore and she was trying her best to not be intimidated by Trisha. I Chuckled at the thought of this.
“Yes,Ms Jones. Philia was involved in a fight with a school student and these are her parents,” he said as he gestured towards us.
Was the girl the same girl I had seen with Trisha at the elevator? The school head had addressed her as Miss, does this mean she's still unmarried? So how was the little girl related to her?
“Where is she? Please take me to her,”she said to the school head, purposely not wanting to acknowledge our presence.
Her step is paused when Lola held her hands and dragged her back, that got Trisha staggering and fell on the floor.
“How stupid can you be? You can't even tender any words of apology to my precious son and you're just gonna walk past us as if we weren't standing here? I don't blame you cause I know you’ve been useless, I blame that unfortunate bastard who is responsible for you,giving birth to an unfortunate child with no manners.”
I just stood there as I watched the scene unfold before me like a movie. Trisha stood up gracefully with the help of a teacher who had been standing there the whole time.With her gaze on me, she adjusted her dress, telling the school head to take her to see the little girl.
“Mummy,”the little girl's voice rang in our ears as she ran joyously into the arms of Trisha which was wide open. She carried her In her arms and kissed her cheeks so sweetly.
The scene before me sent jabs of pains to my heart. Was this the lovely family I would have had, if only this vicious woman didn't creep into my life? I thought as I gazed in Lola's direction who was Frozen in her spot with her mouth wide open.
Of course any one would have that reaction seeing the little girl and I together for the first time.
“I'm really sorry for the behavior of philia,I promise to scold her and keep her on track, Mr Henry,”Trisha said as she bowed at the school head apologetically.
She was already walking away with the little girl when she stopped and started walking back towards us, Lola to be precise.
“PAAH” and then another one “PAAH”
“Don't you ever say anything mean or hateful about my daughter next time. In Fact you don't even deserve to utter her name. Before you try to slander my daughter's name, why not use that energy to teach and raise your son properly, so he doesn't end up being a woman beater when he grows up,Lola,”she hissed venomously at the dazed Lola and walked off
