CHAPTER 19

PHILIP’S POV My mind wandered back to how Lola had acted when she got that call. Why did she react that way? I had never seen Lola's face so pale as it had seemed when she looked at the caller ID. Her behavior seems suspicious. She denied ever going to the dynasty club and now the call? I didn't even bother to eavesdrop on her call because I've got important things to do and Lola certainly wasn't any of my concern. Getting to the office building, I alighted from the car as the driver drove the car to the car park. “Good morning, sir Philip.” The employees all greeted with their heads. I haven't been to the office for a while now. Grandpa had called me earlier to come to the office concerning the West group proposal and the document was in my study at the house, more reason why I went to the house I had avoided for a while. I was about pressing the elevator button when an employee said, “Si- Si- Sir Philip, the elevator had developed some fault and won't open.” She stuttered in a low voice with her head bowed. “And why is that ?” My voice echoed loudly as silence followed. “I don't know sir.” Great! My whole day wasn't going the way I wanted. First I had to deal with Lola's tantrum, now this? I had turned towards the exit when the Technical department Manager said, “Sir,the elevator technicians are on their way. President Jones had asked for them to be called a few seconds before you arrived." “Trisha?”I asked and he nodded. She was at the office? And my eyes scanned the people that were all waiting at the reception but neither Trisha nor her PA were here. Not seeing her, I guessed she had taken the second option. Without thinking twice, I walked towards the stairs, hoping to stop her from climbing further so as not to strain her legs. Forgetting why I came towards the step, I paused my lips as my gaze followed her slowly. I couldn't help but stare at her beautiful face, those mesmerizing eyes that always held warmth. She was wearing a burgundy gown that gave much beauty to those curves of hers. I gulped as my gaze went to her full lips that had red glosses on them. I was pulled out from my day dreaming when I heard Harley’s voice in panic. My eyes dilated in shock as well. I didn't even know how I sprinted up to where she was standing and held her. Her heart was beating rapidly as I held her. Holding her in my arms, my raging emotions all quiet down. I felt a wave of peace that I hadn't felt in a while. All of a sudden, she retracted from me as if I was repulsive to her. My heart clenched in pain by her actions but seeing her in pain, it clenched further. “How could she not watch where she was going?” I scolded her in my head. Seeing that she couldn't walk by herself, the best thing was for me to help her. “I said not to worry,Harley would help me!”she retorted furiously. I had expected that reaction but I was prepared to not take a no for an answer. And with that, I carried her even though she tried to wriggle off. As we walked up the steps, my heart was beating fast within me. I fixed my gaze upward, not wanting to look at her and making her repulse even more. I could feel how uncomfortable she was in my arms. I couldn't have left her in Harley's care when I knew she was hurt. Grandpa had asked me to stay clear from her but I guess I could worry about him later when I had ensured she was okay. Many questions ran through my mind. How did that little girl become yours, Trisha? You had disappeared all these years to only come back with a little girl that looks so much like me but Dr James had said you weren't pregnant before you left. As we walked further, I felt her gaze on me but I tried within me to keep my gaze upward still. Getting to her office, she wriggled out of my arms as she bit her lip in pain. I wanted to scold her yet again but I kept my calm. Ordering Harley to go get the first aid kit,I bent down to see her legs. It was already swollen. With the anger in me wanting to scold her, I removed her shoes and placed my hands on her leg to massage it, which resulted in a low shrill from her. I had wanted to lessen the pain by massaging it a bit before adding the ointment when suddenly, a voice roared inside the room. “What the hell is going on here?” “Grandpa.” I muttered within as I rolled my eyes and stood up.
