CHAPTER 20

842 Words
TRISHA’S POV “Grandpa,”i said in a low tone as I had turned red with embarrassment. Seeing that Grandpa had gotten to my office quickly, I guessed the elevator had been fixed already. I cried out in pain and Grandpa hurriedly walked to where I was, looking at Philip with a sneer. “it's not what you think.I had–” He waved his hands to cut me off. “Let's get you seated first.” He helped me to a seat as he looked at me worriedly, “What happened to you, my little angel? And why are you here?” The last part directed to Philip as he stared dagger at him. My gaze went to Philip who stood there with a blank expression on his face, not bothering to give Grandpa an answer to his question, then to Harley who was looking at us with a confused look and then to Grandpa who had a worried look on his face which had now replaced the look he had given Philip earlier. “Old Carter Sir,Mr Philip had helped president Jones to her office. She sprained her ankle as she had missed her step on the stairs.” It was Ms Harley who answered as she had explained the whole incident with the elevator to ease the heavy tension in the room. Grandpa nodded his head as he removed his gaze from Philip and stared at my swollen ankle. “Why did you have to walk up the stairs, silly girl? Why didn't you wait for the elevator to be fixed?” He said in a concerned tone as he patted my head. “I'm sorry Grandpa. I had some urgent things to do that I couldn't wait.” “Nonsense,if my boy hadn't caught you, don't you think you would have been in much danger?” A low growl was heard as Philip frowned at the name Grandpa always called him. Giving me one last look, Philip walked out of the office. “I hope you aren't feeling much pain?” Grandpa asked again. “It hurts,”I said as I released the tears that I had held because Philip had been here. I didn't want him to see me in tears. “Sorry,”he said as he patted back. Ms Harley was still standing there in a confused state as my gaze met her. Of course I knew what she was thinking. Why would a grown up ass woman like me be crying because of a sprained ankle? All thanks to this Old man right here who always doted on me like a little baby. “Here's the ointment Sir Philip asked to get.” She pulled her hand forward as Grandpa collected it from her. “Are you sure we shouldn't go to the hospital? He asked as he applied the ointment. “No Grandpa. It's just a sprained ankle,”I said as I shook my head. “Okay if you say so. Do you want to go home to rest?” He inquired further as he stared at me lovingly like a father that was caring for his little princess. “I can manage. I've got a lot of work.” “Do not strain your ankle much. Once you are done with work, call me to come take you home okay? I've got a tea brunch with Old Jacques. And I also need to meet my boy before heading out,” he said the last part with a smile. Of course I knew who he was talking about. Even though he always acted like he didn't care, Philip was the one who held the most special place in his heart. “Those technical departments are going to hear from me for neglecting their jobs.” “No Grandpa it's not nec–” I shook my head as he had already walked out with the noise of his cane on the floor echoing through the hallway. I couldn't help but feel pity for them because I knew Grandpa would reign his wrath on them. “I will be in my office ma'am. If you need anything, call me.” And then I realized Ms Harley was still standing here. I nodded at her as she stepped outside and closed the door gently. I covered my face in embarrassment as I thought back on what had happened. I cursed myself inwardly for hurting myself and being so weak in his presence. Why was he acting like he cared earlier? He had hurt me so bad once, I won't let him hurt me again. I was still in my thoughts when the door opened. I didn't lift my head because there was only one person who could come into my office without knocking. “Did you forget something Grandpa?"I asked with my head still bowed. No Response. I lifted my head as my face morphed into a frown as I stared at the person who stared back at me. “What was she doing here?”
