TRISHA'S POV
Pulling the car at the front of the building,I exhaled slowly as I stepped out. I won't deny the fact that anxiousness had overshadowed me as I stared at the building. This was my new life now, it is a life I needed to get used to.
Getting rid of those thoughts, I headed towards the entrance with my shoulders held up high and the looks in my eyes had changed to a cold one, my heels clicking on the floor as I stepped in with poise.
All the Employees were bowing and greeting as I walked past them which I acknowledged with a small nod and a little smile on my lips. But the looks in their eyes didn't go unnoticed by me. Some held uncertainties, some were judgemental, while some held pity.
Why were they all staring at me like that ? Did something happen at the office? I remembered I left the office quite early yesterday because of that man. Thinking about him aroused an emotion in me as I gritted my teeth.
“Good morning Grandpa,”I greeted with a smile as I entered his office.
“Good morning my little princess,”he replied as he patted my hair lovingly. I groan softly as if I was annoyed by the way he always ruined my hair.
He laughed at my reaction as he sat on his seat. Remembering the looks from the employee, I needed to ask Grandpa if anything had happened in my absence.
“Hum Grandpa? Did anything happen at the office yesterday?”
“Besides the normal work that goes on in the office, nothing else happened. Why do you ask?” He inquired as he fixed his gaze on me.
Pausing my lips together, I was contemplating whether to tell him or not but decided on the latter because he could make some rash decision if I should tell him about the condescending looks from some of the employees.
“It's nothing Grandpa,”I shrugged my shoulders as I shook my head.
“Okay, you've got a meeting with the marketing team and you don't want to be late, princess.”
Bringing my wrist up, I glanced at the watch on my left hand. Luckily, I still had 10 minutes left. I hurriedly left Grandpa’s office as I headed for mine.
**10 minutes later
We were all seated, all the marketing team were present and the head of the team had already taken his position at the front, wanting to begin the presentation when the door opened slowly, I panicked A Bit as I saw his face, he glided into the room with his well tailored suit and of course that poker face he always carried with him. I had forgotten that he was supposed to be present at the meeting.
My gaze went up further as I stared Into those oceanic blue eyes that had always melted my heart, but there was something different about those eyes now. They didn't have that brightness in them anymore.it was as if something had died in them.
I cursed myself inwardly for even thinking about him like this. Resting my gaze on the head of the marketing team, I motioned for him to begin.
As the meeting was going on, I could see the uneasiness and irritation on Philip’s face as the marketing team was giving their presentation. I smirked inwardly as I knew what this was all about. The meeting lasted for about an hour.
I stood up and was about walking out when Philip called my name.
“Trish, uhm president Jones,”he corrected as I glared dagger at him.
He stood there and was staring at me and he hadn't said why he called me.
“Something on my face?” I asked because I was getting furious on why he had called me only to just stare.
“I can't stand for too long, let's talk in my office.” I walked away, trying to steady my balance as my feet were shaking for God knows why. I hope he wasn't trying to bombard me with questions about philia cause I was really adamant on letting him know anything about her.
“Why were there so many changes?” he asked with a low tone that was laced with ire as he stepped into my office.
“Changes? What changes?” I feigned ignorance on what he was talking about.
“Why were there so many changes on the presentation earlier from the marketing team?”
“I didn't notice any changes, so I don't know what changes you are talking about.”
“This project was something I had already analyzed before giving it to the marketing team to work with, so I know very clearly if a change had occurred on it.” his tone was still low but I could tell he was trying his best to not snap.
“Maybe the analysis you did on them could have dragged the project to a pitfall and someone needed to step in and make useful changes,”I said, my tone laced with sarcasm.
“And that someone is you?” He chuckled with mockery. Irritation and Anger washed through me, but I wasn't going to show him that his words still have an effect on me.
“If we invest this whole amount of capital, there's every possibility that it will crumble because it is a rising business. We have to be strategic about it, let's not forget the doubling effort of the competitors that surrounds it,”he snapped.
Who does he really think he is? I scoffed.
“Not if we pull in our full capacity into investing and make it rise above its competitors. Investing with full capacity and with that capital gives us 45% of the profit but if we s***h the capital as well as our effort, it's only going to yield us 20% and that isn't much.”
He looked at me in awe, his eyes suddenly carried admiration as he stared at me. Not that I cared anyways.
“I'm the CEO and I know what's best for the company,”I said with a tone of finality as I was already annoyed by his presence.
“Trish , his words were interrupted when his phone vibrated. Picking up the call, the expression on his face changed, resembling that of a wounded and raging soldier. He stood up and walked out abruptly.
