CHAPTER 10

TRISHA'S POV “Are you feeling okay?”I asked philia with concern and worry visible on my face as I caressed her face. My whole mind was a mess when the school head had told me she was at the school infirmary because she had suffered from a nosebleed. She nodded gently at me. Still wanting to make sure she wasn't feeling any pain, I asked again, “Are you still feeling hurt?” “Just a little mummy,”she said quietly. I heaved a sigh of relief. The worried look on my face changed to a stern one as I stared at my 4 years old warrior. “What did I say about fighting? Huh?”I snapped Coldly at her. I could see her small poppy eyes were now filled with tears as she was taken aback by my outburst. I had never raised my voice at her before because I didn't see any need to. My heart bled within me as I saw those tears in her eyes but I wasn't going to spare the rod when she had done something that wasn't appropriate. “I'm sorry mummy, he started it first.” little tears had already stained her beautiful face. “So the best thing to do is fight back? Why didn't you report to your tutor?” “I didn't mean to fight back Mom,”she said slowly as she shook her head. “I was sitting at the school cafeteria, having my lunch when he and his friends bumped into me and poured my lunch away.” She sniffed the tears that were threatening to fall as she continued. “They just laughed at me and walked past. I demanded for them to apologize to me for wasting my lunch, but they laughed even more and called me a weak little puppy.” She paused as she sniffed again. “I had already turned to go report to my class tutor when he said,so ugly like your mummy' and they laughed yet again.” “I wanted to show them that I wasn't weak and I definitely didn't have a ugly mummy because my mummy is the prettiest in the whole universe. So I ran towards him and bit his thigh and when he held his thigh and was about to fall to the ground, I jumped on him and used my fingers to scratch his face, that was when he head-butted my nose,”philia said with a mischievous smile on her face. “That's my little girl,”I said proudly within me as I stared at her with amusement.I wasn't going to say it out loud cause I didn't want her to go around fighting everyone that offends her.All the anger I was feeling had disappeared as I watched her talking. “Please forgive me Mummy, I promise to be a good girl from now on,”she pleaded, Staring at me with those poppy eyes that had always melted my heart right from the first day she came into my life. “It's okay my baby, you'll always be my little angel. Please do not go fighting boys anymore okay?”I said as I took her into a warm embrace. I released her from my embrace and was about starting the car when she asked, “But mummy, do you know that big loaf’s mummy? You guys seem to know each other because you called her name back there.” “I did? No baby I've never ever met her before, I think I got her name from the school head when he was addressing her,”I lied with a straight face, not wanting her to ask further questions about Lola. “Oh! Mummy I think I saw that uncle that looks so much like me standing close to that big loaf, is he is dad?” Here we go again with more questions I was trying to avoid. “I don't know, I think so,”I replied nonchalantly. And then she made a dramatic sound, “I don't look like that uncle anymore, he's not even that handsome again.” Her reaction caused me to laugh and I started the car and drove off. Annoyance flashed through my eyes as I remembered how that crazy woman had humiliated me back there at the school. My mind had paused for a moment when I had seen the both of them because I wasn't expecting them to be there. They kind of look so happy together and I could see the way Philip was staring at his school so lovingly. My heart clenched when I saw those affections but I wasn't going to let that bother me because I've got enough love for Philia. Lola hadn't even changed, still crazy, still cunning and still malicious as ever. Philip was standing there, just like before, watching me get humiliated. I wasn't expecting him to save me though. I had held back on dealing with her because of my little girl but I promise to not be nice next time we encounter each other. Suddenly, I heard a loud bump at the back of my car that got my hand slipping from the wheel for a second. I fought hastily to have my hands back on the wheel as I tried to gain control of the brake. As this happened, my gaze fell on my little girl who was on the verge of tears. I struggled within me to gain control because I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if anything should happen to Philia. Luckily for us, I was able to pull the car to a stop. I quickly stepped out and carried her out, not minding the blood that was dripping from my head as I had bumped my head while I was struggling to save us. “It's okay my baby girl, we are saved,”I muttered to her as she wailed out of shock. Looking at the car that was bashed badly at the back,my gaze fell on an SUV car that was parked at the other side of the road. The person inside the car smiled wickedly at me and sped off.
