Chapter Five I graduated high school Saturday morning—not a big deal—only Mom sat in the audience and watched. I went partying with the guys Saturday night—none of the girls wanted to go out with a prostitute’s “John” and recuperated all day Sunday. On Monday afternoon, as I stocked can goods at the grocery store, Penny came by dressed in a lavender sweat suit set. Her hair was off her shoulders as we stood chitchatting beside the Campbell soup display. Since moving into her mom’s old house, she stopped often for provisions.
