5. The bird has landed

-Valkyrie's P. O. V.- "Virginia, are you sure you don't want to join us here? The view is amazing." - the voice said. "Maybe in a minute." - my Cousin's soft voice answered. I've been listening to their fairly innocent conversations for over thirty minutes now and so far I was expecting something more scandalous or juicy stuff to come out of them. Vaughn isn't as bad of a boy as he pictured himself to be, we were definitely way worse. "Honey, are you still on it?" - Rob asked with a sigh coming out of the bathroom - "I still think it's a breach of privacy. I can't believe Victor agreed to do it." - my Mate added with disapproval. I took one earpiece off and glanced at him. "What did you expect? That we'll be here just sitting and waiting for them to come with their problems to us? You know that's not what my family does." - I told him with a raised brow. "Oh, I know all too well that you are experts at bottling everything up and waiting for the day when it all blows up in your face like fireworks on the 4th of July." - Rob said, shaking his head. "Is this a judgment I hear in your voice? Because you know that attitude won't get you even to the second base, Mister." - I warned him, but it wasn't too serious and I had real trouble with keeping my giggling in. Like a giddy schoolgirl. Damn it, what did he do to me?! "I still think that bugging the roof was a bit extreme, that's all I'm saying. Not to mention surveillance cameras by the locker room exit." - Rob raised his hands in a surrender gesture. I know how he feels about it, we fought over this before. But to be honest if that was up to me I would have bugged the whole damn place to secure our mission's success. Rob on the other hand was more trusting, he wanted to watch and wait till they came with their problems to us. Yeah sure, like every teenager does that. Pff, in what universe?! "Oh come on baby, thanks to this we already know that Cole found his Mates and if I'm not wrong Seth is smitten by Gini. Vigo will definitely loose his s**t over this." - I chuckled. "Yeah, as hilarious as it is, how will you explain it when Vaughn finds out? You want him to trust you, right? To come to you if anything happens." - Rob crossed his arms making his biceps bulge in that perfect way under his dress shirt. He's definitely a master of distracting me. I sighed and shook my head trying to get the images of what I'd like to do with him out of my head. "As long as I'll be able to help him if anything starts that won't matter in the end." - I stated - "Besides, it seems that they are really close, so my theory is still not disproved. When he starts his transition into Lycan I want to be there to help him." "If, Valkyrie, if he starts his transition." - Rob pointed out. "Fine. I'll let them be for now, but don't expect me to not check once in a while." - I said switching off the recording from last night and putting my earphones away - "But at least Vaughn stayed true to his word and he's taking care of Virginia. That's nice." "It sure is. When will the twins first join practice be exactly?" "Tomorrow. I'm more nervous than I ever was before. Will you stay close by in case I need you?" - I asked. He nodded with that gorgeous, soft smile he always has for me and got back to preparing our breakfast. There's nothing sexier than a man who cooks. I was just about to approach him and maybe make him forget all about the food and our disagreements over eavesdropping when my phone started buzzing furiously. I took it from my pocket and smiled at the name on the screen. "I didn't know that mighty Alpha was up that early in the morning." - I said with a smirk when I answered the call. "Oh, I'm not just up, but actually in the parking lot at your work, so if you could see me down here it would be great." - Osprey said, sounding more frustrated than he usually is. I believe that being an official Alpha is getting to him. But his words made me frown. What is he doing at 7am in the Lycademy?! " If you wanted to see me, FaceTime would be enough. You didn't have to come all this way down."- I chuckled. "Not in the mood, Val. Just move your ass here. Please." - he said and disconnected the call. Rude, but at least he said 'please' and that's an improvement. Yuriko had some good impact on him. I explained to Rob the situation hoping I will return by the time he's done with our breakfast. I swung my jumper around my shoulders and went to the parking lot. As soon as I stepped through the main gate I saw my friend leaning over his car with arms crossed over his chest. "What a surprise, Ossy. Have you missed me or are you in trouble?" - I asked genuinely happy to see him. He then pointed his finger to the passenger door of his car. "Trouble." I frowned not knowing what he means, but when he reached for the handle and the doors wouldn't budge Osprey groaned from frustration then beeped his car keys to open the vehicle and this time doors opened to reveal a bundle of black, straight hair covering the face of who I can only assume was Kite. "Huh, I haven't even noticed she wasn't here." - I said mostly to myself. "Not only you. Apparently when she left two days ago she went to our Grandma's Coven instead to the Academy. I wouldn't know if Margot wouldn't call Mom." - Osprey said. "Because you don't give a s**t. I told you all I don't want to be here, but does my opinion matter?! Noooo." - Kite sneered at her brother revealing her face with way too heavy, dark makeup. "Sis, you know you have to, we all did. Mom's orders and I'm not going behind her back." - Ossy said with a sigh, but something in his voice made me realize that wasn't the first time they were having this conversation. "If you had the balls you could. You are Alpha aren't you?" - Kite challenged her brother. "Alright, that's enough. Get out." - Ossy ordered. "No!" - she said, crossing her arms and looking away from him. "Don't force me to do something we both might regret." - Ossy warned her. "You wouldn't dare." "Alright, you've been warned." Osprey reached one hand for her arm and another for her leg and he pulled her from the car as if she was a rag doll. Kite was screaming and tossing in his hold, and when Osprey finally put her on the ground she kicked him hard on the shin making my friend hiss in pain. I bit my lips because there was something undeniably funny about this sibling quarrel. But I still couldn't get why Kite was so against attending Lycademy. She after all spent the last year here and everything was fine. More or less. "Osprey Springer, don't make me curse you!" - Kite screeched at her brother - "If you make me stay here I will search every book to make your life a living hell and you know I'm able to do this." - she threatened getting back on her feet. Osprey looked at her with slight amusement. "Uuuu I'm so scared." - he mocked her pretending he was shaking. "You were when I gave you fleas." - she said smugly with a vicious smirk. Ossy stopped in his tracks and looked at her like he was actually weighing her words. "You wouldn't." "Try me, brother." - Kite smirked. Osprey released an exasperated breath and put his hands on Kite's shoulders towering over her. "Kay, whether you like it or not you're a werewolf. You have only two years left, then you can do whatever the hell you want. Please don't make me choose between you and Mom, you know it's killing me." - he pleaded with her, redirecting their exchange completely. Kite actually looked remorseful and I watched them for many years and I know how devoted they are to one another. Although when they were arguing the whole Pack heard them. " Ossy, please. I don't want to be here. They know I'm different" - she pointed at the castle - "You know I'm different and I know it. Why are you making me?" - her violet eyes were begging him to change his mind, but when Ossy shook his head, Kite's expression changed once again into an angry scowl. - "Fine. But you can't forbid me from getting expelled." - she announced stubbornly as if it was the challenge she was taking. "I already talked with Headmaster Whitewood and we are aware that you may pull some crap, but just… don't get into trouble, okay?" Kite once again looked away from her brother. Oh man, she was boiling from anger. "Will you give me a hug goodbye?" - he asked, spreading his long arms, but Kite looked away from him. Osprey sighed and shook his head. Then he leaned down to the opened car and took something in his large hand. "Don't forget your rat." - he said, tossing a small animal to Kite who immediately jumped to catch a small furry bundle. "Jojo!" - Kiet cried, hugging the animal close to her chest, but it definitely didn't look like a rat, more like a miniature weasel. But it's coloring was the most interesting, it had a white belly and chestnut top, that in the light of a morning sun glitter in a soft lilac undertone. "How could you do this, Oss?! Besides, it's not a rat, it's a stoat, you giant ignorant!" - she screamed after her brother hugging the small animal close to her heart as if it was her biggest treasure. "Whatever Kay, it pooped in my car, so it's a vermin." The stoat climbed on Kite's shoulder and hissed, showing its tiny teeth to Ossy as if it could understand the insult. Osprey unpacked his sister's bags from his trunk and left them unceremoniously on the ground trying once more to talk with his sister, but Kite was nothing if not stubborn and she quickly grabbed her bags and stomped towards the castle not even once glancing back at us. "Please look out for her." - Osprey asked when we were watching her go. "Sure, although if she's on a mission to get expelled there's not much I can do. By the way, why is she like that?" - I asked "Last year was hard for her, only Buzz kept her company. Maybe you could hook her up with Virginia or Vaughn?" Yeah, I was aware that most of the wolves don't particularly like hybrids, especially those who are so openly bragging about their heritage. It was easier for aunt Nimue who was hiding her talents for most of her stay here, or for Osprey for that matter, because there weren't many brave enough to disrespect 7 ft tall Alpha. Besides, he had all of us. But with Kite none of this applies. Especially when she's wearing some magical artifacts or threatens to curse anyone who gets in her way. To be honest it looks like she isn't even trying to fit in. "I see what I can do." - I assured him. Osprey nodded and after a tight hug he climbed up into his SUV and drove away leaving me with another worry on my head. Third day, and I already want this year to end.
