James asked Maya in the kitchen " yes everything is ready " " good what I want you to do now is to go upstairs and and dress properly at this party do not embarrrass me infact just don't talk to me do you understand " " yes" James left the kitchen " if I can not go to the party I will be so happy I mean his friends are nothing to even talk about i have to go now " after dressing up in a red slim fit gown Maya tied hair in a ponytail and did some light makeup and wore red earrings then she. came down she was met with smell of alcohol and cigarettes she thought to herself " it hasn't even be long my goodness " she found a secluded place and sat down and looked around the people present were not much everyone was laughing and talking until something caught her eyes or someone it was James holding a lady by her waist and they were talking to each other in an intimate way Maya stood up and walked towards them " hi good evening " both of them looked at Maya and immediately James let go of her Maya then looked at the girl sh e seems around her age she is pretty but her makeup wasn't doing justice to get face she wore a black short gown and red heels her black hair was let free Maya brought her hand forward and introduced herself " my name Is Maya James wife and you are" the girl looked at James and looked back at Maya and shook her hands " am Lucy a friend of James " Maya let go of her hand " oh really James never mentioned anything about you to me before nice to meet you I never knew he had such a friend " lunch answered " well I wasn't around I just came back from a business trip some weeks ago " " oh okay hope you are enjoying the party " " yeah well I have to go I have other people to meet see you " she looked at James and left Maya watched her leave and turned to see James angry face " what " James looked at her her and answered " what do you think you are doing " " nothing why " "when am talking to someone don't ever interrupt me " " sure okay " James left her and meet with one of his friends

" i***t " Maya said quietly before she called a waiter and took one of the drinks and drank it after sometime James came with one of his friends and introduce Maya to them

" this is my loving wife Maya" Maya looked at him surprised and thought " did he just say loving deceiver" but she smiled and " hi " " these are my friends"

the compliment made Maya dread in disgust the man in question isn't someone Maya would advice anyone to associate with themselves with his blonde hair is not properly combed his five o'clock Shadow is not helping the situation Maya faked Smiled at him " um excuse me there are things that need to be taken care of I will be going now " she left to the kitchen and sat there and started looking at the waiters carrying trays in and out she was then left alone in the kitchen but suddenly the door was opened and the same man from earlier came in this made Maya stand up " oh there you are I was looking for you " Maya answered " why I don't think we have any business with each other "

" oh but we do someone told me your husband James doesn't treat you right "

" well whoever told you that lied " " oh no didn't they were telling the truth " by this time the man was walking towards Maya while Maya was backing up " you see I can treat you right if you will allow me " this made Maya cringe " look old man I never said I wanted to get married again and even if I want to you are definitely not my type so sorry your offer is rejected" " so you rather stay in this marriage I mean really " the man was getting too close to her this made Maya bring out the knife behind her " look like I said am not interested so I am telling you to walk out of here right now or else you will definitely start seeing your own blood and am serious " " you will go to jail" " and I can say it was self defense and Sue you for s****l assault do get me " " okay fine am leaving" " hm you better " the man left and Maya exhaled

" thank goodness there was a knife behind me I need to leave this place " she left the kitchen and went straight to her room. The next morning she was met with a huge mess in the living room

" great I have to clean this up" she was cleaning when James came inside the house Maya stopped " good morning "

" hm morning her take a look at this letters and tell me the Important ones ".

" okay" she took them and started looking through them then she saw one with a a golden color and was perfectly wrapped " what a fancy envelope" she opened it and read it and gave it to James " this one is an invitation to a anniversary hosted by the Lee family they are celebrating their company's tenth anniversary and they are inviting us it holding this Friday by seven at the city hall " James took the Invitation card and read through it " okay get ready then we are going and clean this place up

faster would you " he left leaving Maya and her thoughts " if it is hosted by the Lee family that means the party is going to be huge no wonder the fancy card the Lee family are one of the most influential and successful family in the country they are ranked first in this country and third world wide I didn't know the family was in the country well no one knows anything about them actually Maya stop talking to yourself " after cleaning she prepared breakfast and served it James came down while Maya stood and watched him James starts eating but suddenly stopped and looked at Maya she was confused and asked " is something wrong " James took the food and poured it on her he shouted at her

" I thought I said never add tomato in my food I hate it " Maya could not answer he threw the pate to the ground and push her she fell and her left palm collide with the broken plate and started bleeding James then left the house Maya stood up and started picking up the broken plates she picked them up and went to her room to change and treat her wounded palm she sighed " I should have understood the signs you were giving me in the past

flash back four years ago

" James I made you something taste it tell me how it is " Maya gave James the food she made he took it and ate it Maya asked " how is it " James started to cough " are you okay here have water " he took it and drank it " did you put tomato in it " " yes why " " I hate tomatoes I told you didn't I " he shouted and threw the food away Maya looked at him shocked " am sorry" James answered " its fine am sorry for shouting forgive me okay" " hmm" Maya didn't think too much about and for got about it

" it wasn't the first time you did that to me I should have known and picked up the signs I was too native and blinded that I could get something good out of the relationship and now am all alone" she started crying " is it too much to ask for someone to love me to treat me right I have tried everything I could to make him love me I tried doing everything he told me to do I have tried and am tired of trying I feel exhausted " she suddenly remembered the blue eyes man she saw at the mall " why did I even think about that maybe because the colour of his

eyes are my favorite color I need to go back and finish cleaning up" she left her room and went to the living room
