chapter eight

Maya looked outside the airplane window she can't tell how she feels right now she doesn't know if it's fear, anxiety, or her illness is getting worse but she knows it's the reality that she is going on a honeymoon with a man she detest so much she kept repeating it in her head that everything will be fine but the words are not convincing her she can already feel it that something is going to go wrong it's been hours now and the more the airplane gets farther away from the previous county the more anxious she gets that she is walking towards her doom but she doesn't know when it will happen the pilot announced their arrival in Italy Maya breathed in and out and looked at James who was beside her sleeping she looked ahead and tried to calm down .They got down from the airplane and took their luggages from the airport they came to the airport's entrance and was welcomed by a young man who welcomed them in his native language Maya answered but James looked at her as if waiting for her to interpret the man was understood and greeted him in English with his Italian accent " good evening sir welcome to Italy" James hummed and walked passed him and got into the car which was parked in front of them Maya gave their luggages to him and thanked him she then got into the car the driver got into the car and started driving maya looked outside the window and felt how alive the city is even at night time she remembered the days when she was little when her and her parents would come here for the holiday she felt so happy coming here everytime she always felt free whenever she comes here but now it feels as if she is here to be caged her thoughts were Interrupted by James asking the name of the driver " my name is Lorenzo sir" "Lorenzo that's a nice nice so tell me the good clubs you can find here" Maya looked at him she knows he isn't asking for both of them " there are quite many sir" " well then you can tell me later" James looked at Maya who was still staring at him " what you don't expect me to actually spend time with you right that's just wrong" Maya looked away from him and met the eyes Lorenzo through the mirror she smiled a little at him and he smiled at her in return

they arrived at the mansion and met the maids already standing outside the car stopped in front of them and a security guard opened the door for them they got down and the maids welcomed them

Maya returned the greeting in Italian and told James they just greeted but he did not respond and walked away into the mansion Maya followed him the inside was beautiful decorated which added to the beauty of the mansion James got inside and sat down on one of the couches Maya sat down on another far away from him James called one of the maids and ordered for an orange juice Maya asked for water and then the maid left James looked around " your family had such a mansion and I never knew about it were you planning on keeping it from me" maya answered " yes" "what"

" I mean no not at all I was planning on telling you one day" by then the maid got back and gave them the drinks. Maya went to her room she always stayed at whenever she came to the house she

smiled when she remembered the memories her and her father shared when he would read her bed time stories she got the bed and sat down she sighed

" I miss you so much dad" she lay down on the bed and slept. The next morning

Maya got downstairs and had her breakfast she wasn't feeling too weak like before so she decided to go out for a walk in the he city she didn't bother about James she was told that he left early in the morning she went outside and breathe in the morning air and breathe out she started walking off but was stopped by one of the security guards he spoke In Italian " boungiorno signora dovrei accompagnarti"

(good morning madam should I accompany you) Maya replied in Italian

" no grazie" ( no thank you) the guard nodded his " va bene signora" (okay madam) Maya smiled and walked away she left and started walking along the streets she felt refreshed and free she walked for a while and decided to go the city park everyone was occupied with their own activities she sat down on one of the benches under a tree which was serving as a shade from m the sun she smiled while watching a family who were far away from her playing games she didn't notice the other person's arrival

" excuse me can I sit" Maya looked up and was met with the same eyes she met weeks ago the same blue eyes that has never left her mind maya was still staring at him this made Jason looked back to see if there is someone behind him he looked at her and smiled showing his dimples on both side of his cheek

Maya thought to herself " great he has dimples too his girlfriend is one lucky girl why is he smiling" he was still smiling and said to her " am I that handsome

for you to look at me for so long" this made Maya turned away but looked back at him " are you trying to flirt with me because I clearly said I was married"

this made Jason laughed he then sat down at the other side of the bench not too close to her " I know Maya and I remember I am not flirting with you I was just saying because you kept staring at me" " well that is because I was thinking of how lucky your girlfriend is" " and I remember telling you that I don't have one" Maya laughed awkwardly

" oh right, so how have you been and what are you doing here" " I have been great work is quite stressful so I decided to take a mini vacation so I came here"

" hm that's nice" " what about you what are you doing here" " well I um came here for honeymoon I guess" " you guess

well happy honeymoon" " thanks I guess"

" you are saying the word guess quite alot so how are you enjoying it here"

" good for now" " am enjoying it fine actually I can recommend a good restaurant for you guys they serve the best food" " oh thanks but I know alot i used to come here alot a long time ago"

" really that's nice so you must be very familiar with alot of things here then"

" yes quite alot" " how is james"

" why do you sundenly ask"

" I don't know if to tell you these because well it's non of my business and I don't want it to be but you should keep an eye on him" " why is something wrong"

" am just saying your mom cares alot about you that's why am saying this normally I wouldn't care but I have to"

" that means you know my mom how do you know her" Jason looked at his watch

" I have to go I hope to see you soon

belleza (beauty)" he then left Maya was shocked to hear him call her that she was still for a while then she smiled

and then she thought " I hope to find a trust worthy friend in you jason" she left the park and went home she got home around noon time and met James at the living room " where have you been I have been looking for you" " why I thought you don't need me" " well I do why because we are in a country where I don't understand their language only you do so I need you to come with me"

" you do realize I can't come with you everywhere you do know that right"

" I don't like it either but what choice do I have" " I don't download a translation app on your phone or something"

James rolled his and stood " whatever"

he went upstairs Maya shook her head and went to the kitchen the maids greeted her " hi so what are you guys making" one of them answered

" we will make whatever you want miss maya" " okay then can you please spaghetti" " okay then we will start right now" " thanks" Maya kept thinking and decided to go with what she was thinking

" have you guys ever heard of someone called Jason lee" immediately she said that the maids screamed together Maya closed her ears and thought to herself

" I guess he is popular here also"

" so am guessing you guys know him"

one of them answered " of course we know him Jason Leonardo Lee"

Maya became confused " Leonardo?"

the same maid answered " hm that's his full name he is so handsome"

" is he from Italy ?" " hm partly I guess from what we know he's mom is Italian and his dad is from Australia we don't really know much about him to be honest nobody knows much about the family they are quite secretive" Maya thought about " which means the woman at the anniversary party isn't his mom" " what about siblings" another maid answered

" I don't know I heard he has a sister but his mom took her with her it's only his cousin that lives with them" another said

" I heard his mom cheated on her husband with his best friend and the girl is the child of his best friend" " well that's not what I heard I heard she could no longer live with her husband so they separated" " so there are different versions that's why it's not nice to always believe the media well I will get going now" she left but her mind was occupied with alot things like how her mom and Jason know each other and the secrets of his family and most importantly what James is hiding and what Jason knows about him she must find out all of these and she must start research soon and keep am eye on James " what is he hiding I will find out".
