Sienna’s POV
Elena returned my car early in the morning.
I waited for Kael to get ready for work, but he kept hanging around the apartment like he had nowhere to be. At first, I said nothing. I watched him move about, checking the door, glancing through the window, pretending he was not watching for danger. By eight in the morning, I could not keep quiet anymore.
“Are you not going to work?” I asked.
Kael looked at me like the answer should have been obvious.
“I have decided to spend the day with you,” he said. “I do not want you to sit here alone after what happened yesterday.”
My heart swelled before I could stop it. Kael was trying to remain on guard. It was normal for him to expect that someone might come here after what happened with the Zeta. He was only trying to protect me in
