Sienna’s POV Kael stopped at the door, startled. His eyes moved over me first, then to the empty living room, then back to my face. He studied me for a second, like he had forgotten what my happiness looked like. Then he smiled briefly. Very briefly. But I saw it. My chest did something stupid. “Where do you want me to put it?” Kael asked. I looked from him to the television and back again. “You bought it for me?” I asked. He nodded carefully, like he was afraid the wrong movement would offend me. “I do not want you to be bored while I am at work,” Kael said. “So I bought the television and wireless network. It isn’t much, but I promise I will work harder and do better.” His eyes held determination. That made me feel terrible. Under normal circumstances, Kael would have been perfect
