Interview of a Lifetime

Melissa felt better the next day. She had told the one person who really mattered in her life, Michael. She really didn't want to tell Veronica, her mother. Because she knew the extreme reaction she was going to have. So nope. Melissa felt really excited that day. She didn't know why. And it was not because of Michael. And it wasn't because of her awesome job promotion. She just didn't know why. As soon as she walked into the office, she saw the one person she had managed to avoid since she had gotten her promotion: Betty. Melissa tried fo turn away but it was too late. Betty had already spotted her. "You!" she said, walking towards Melissa. "Me?" the average height girl answered, almost confused "So you think you're better than the rest of us because you got a promotion? I'll prove you wrong. b***h!" Melissa watched Betty walk away with a surprised expression on her face. She didn't understand why Betty felt the need to be so mean to her. They had never had any real issue. Except when Melissa had refused to do her extra work. But that was it. So all the attitude was kind of shocking. And it was actually uncalled for. Melissa shook her head then headed towards her office. She had a lot of work today and she was not going to let Betty or anyone else mess up her concentration and mindset. Positive all the way. She sat in the office and instead of starting with her work, she sat and stared into space, daydreaming. Sometimes, she sat and thought about her stranger. His face was fuzzy in her mind. And some of his actions she couldn't remember. But he was one of her fantasies. A recurring one. And she couldn't stop it. She thought of his hands gliding on her skin. On his eyes staring into hers and he slid deep and hard into her warmth. She gasped then shook her head to clear her head of those fantasies. She had read that pregnant women got excited easily and that was what was happening to her. And she definitely didn't want to start panting like some b***h in heat with a wet p***y she couldn't take care of. She closed her legs and sighed. This was stupid. Daydreaming and fantasizing about someone she barely knew. Someone she had had just one encounter with. Melissa sighed and powered on her computer. She had two articles that had to be published by the next day. And here she was, having naughty dreams instead of working. She opened the documents then found herself thinking again. This time around it was nothing dirty. She was think about how she was going to raise the baby. She wasn't scared of the financial cost or anything. But the fact was, she had grown up without a father or father figure in her life. She had been stigmatized. She had been the centre of embarrassment more than once because she didn't have a father. And Melissa definitely didn't want her child to go through that. But it looked like she wasn't going to have a choice. She could not do anything about it. She didn't know him and she didn't have know anything about him. Melissa stared at the door fixedly. She was going to be the best mother to her kid. They were going to be best friends. And it didn't matter that she had just learnt about the pregnancy recently. She was going to make her kid feel like they could always come to her. No matter the circumstance. Melissa shook when she heard a knock on the door. She cleared her throat and called out a come in. The door opened and one of the temps sent her head in with a smile. "Yes?" Melissa asked with a small smile. "Adams wants to see you in his office. He says it's urgent," the temp said timidly and Melissa smiled fondly, then nodded. Melissa remembered a few years back when that was her. Running around trying to please those who were already well assured of the their jobs. She had worked hard to reach where she was and even Betty was not going to make her regret it. Melissa stood sluggishly and walked to Adams's office. She knew sooner more than later, she was going to have to tell him that she was pregnant. But for now, she didn't want anyone spray from Michael to know. She knocked when she reached Adams's office. He was a good man. Calm and kind. But when you met him in a bad mood, you would never think so. When Melissa heard the come in, she walked in. And for the second time, Adams was smiling. It was kind of strange. He was never frowning but he didn't smile unnecessarily too. His face was always sober. "You called sir?" Melissa said and if it was possible, the man's smile widened. Melissa was bit creeped out. "Sit Melissa," Adams said with a happy note in his voice. Melissa sat cautiously, then raised a brow, silently asking the man why he had called her into his office. And why he was so damned excited. "You Kno of Aiden Vault?" Adams asked and Melissa immediately grew excited. Who didn't know Aiden Vault? And that's exactly what Melissa asked Adams. "He's like the biggest business mogul and the youngest billionaire of all time," Melissa gushed. "I love that enthusiasm. I hope you'll be just as enthusiastic to know that we got an interview with him," Adams said smugly and Melissa's mouth dropped open. "What? Sir? Are you serious?" Melissa needed to confirm it. It was something big. And their magazine was not that big of a name. Not like the others anyways. Ones like Vogue and so on. But they had managed to snag an interview. "Damn serious Melissa. And do you know the best part?" Adams asked Melissa. She shook her head rapidly, her curls bouncing around. She was excited to know. "You're the one who is going to conduct the interview," Adams said and Melissa damned near melted. "Sir?" She asked and Adams nodded. "Oh my god, sir thank you so much! This is a dream come true!" Melissa didn't know what came over her. But she rushed over to Adams and hugged him tightly then said, "I promise I won't disappoint you sir". "You'd better not. I chose you for a reason Melissa. You're incredibly smart and talented. Yoyre one of the best. I'm sure you'll do good." Adam praised and Melissa blushed. She definitely was not going to disappoint the man. And she couldn't wait to rub this in Michael's face. She had actually gotten an interview with THE Aiden Vault. Nothing could spoil her day now.
