"Ethan, how good to see you," his friends greeted him in one voice as he approached the table he had reserved, Kevin Martinez, George Campbell, and Michael Rivas.
"Nice to see you, too," he replied and began hugging them all in turn.
" Well, everyone, we've said hello, we've met, now we can sit down," Kevin said to everyone.
" You're right," they all said and sat down at the table.
" So, who's the first to complain about their lives?" Michael, the joker and the mastermind, asked in a mocking tone.
"George, you're the one to start with," Kevin confronted him.
"Whatever you want, I don't care. If you want to start with me, you're welcome. I'm doing great. I can't complain. I'm in finance. Started a couple of brokerage agencies. Business is booming. "
"Is that so? "Kevin asked him.
" Yes. I always enjoy life, and I advise you to do the same."
"And we enjoy life too. Only everyone does it differently. Everyone had their own plans after high school. Some wanted to be doctors, lawyers, famous dancers, and bankers. Listed all their dreams and achievements. "
"That's how we got it all," George said.
"Not all of them," Kevin interrupted him, looking at Ethan.
"I believe that whatever is done in our lives is for the best. But, now Ethan makes a lot more money and can buy any dance school he wants. That injury was a new impetus to achieve even greater goals."
"Maybe you're right," Kevin agreed.
"Okay, guys, can't you at least give me the floor?" Ethan asked, since he thought they were ignoring him and talking about him without his input.
"Sure, man," the three of them replied.
" I've come for good."
"Yay, we'll get together more often now," Michael rejoiced at Ethan's words.
"Yeah, that's the beauty of it," George confirmed.
"Yes guys. But I've decided to invest my money in a dancer or a dance couple who dream of fame."
"Are you saying you'll give your money to anyone who can dance?" Kevin asked him.
"No, I'm going to put my money into a professional who will become famous in the future."
"How are you going to find one?"
" I'll get help from Alex, the man we've been washing our Czechs with since we were five years old."
"What can we say? We wish you the best of luck."
"Thank you."
"How's your love life, Ethan?" Michael asked him.
" It's great. There are no changes and not in the near future. Love is not for me."
" Why so sad?"
"I'm fine," Ethan replied sharply to Michael. He didn't like to talk about it.
" I'm married, and you know, it's not so much fun. My wife calls me at work all the time and when she accidentally comes in and sees a nurse in my office, she immediately makes such a scandal that the whole clinic can hear. Real jealous."
"You're a great neurosurgeon," George quipped.
" If you only knew how much I'm sick of it. I'm tired." "I'm constantly haunted by the fear that at some point I might do something wrong, and I'll be responsible for the death of a man."
"Get over yourself. I haven't heard a peep out of you, so you're fine," Ethan reassured him.
"You have a tough job," Kevin said to Michael.
"How's your job, Kevin?"
"Law is my dream. Ever since I was a kid, I've dreamed of being in a courtroom, and being that lawyer who tries hard to defend an innocent man."
"Kevin, because most of the time, you've won trials by defending the guilty. How do you live with that?"Michael asked him.
"Michael, there are no people among us who are the most honest and sincere. You have a wife you don't love, but you still come home every day after screwing another nurse during your break. I love Lisa, very much. We have a little girl growing up."
"Why are you saying all this now? I don't understand you," Michael said indignantly.
"I think of them first, and if I get a chance to make a good living, I do it. I don't sue people. I don't announce verdicts and decisions in court."
"You just pick the side you're comfortable with. Or have you forgotten about our games?"Michael asked.
"Guys, would you stop it?"Ethan turned to them.
"He was the first one to start talking about it. And you know what, I can tell you that none of us are saints. I f**k my nurse, Kevin f***s his assistant, George f***s his secretary, and don't let them tell me I'm wrong now. Do you love Lisa? Then why did you sleep with her maid of honor at the wedding? Are you the one with such high feelings?" Again Michael asked a direct question to Kevin, who was already in a rage.
"It's none of your business!"
"And the fact that we periodically meet, and do some very bad things, have you forgotten about that?" George intervened in their conversation.
" Well, we're all not angels, and I don't deny it. Nobody forgot anything."
"Guys, will you stop it?! It's time for us to order and have a drink to dispel all this negativity. We're going to have some fun, aren't we?"
"Yeah, he's right," George confirmed, and called for the waiter, who didn't come to the table the first time.
