Chapter Twenty-One
“I do, but I like spending time with you.” Louis pressed his lips to my forehead and I breathed in the scent of his skin. We had bathed after our walk on the beach and had a late lunch on the deck. Now he smelled warm and clean, like all of the good things I associated in my life. “It’s okay if you miss him too.”
I nodded, worrying my lower lip. “And if I want to go back early?”
“Then let’s go,” Louis said and I pulled back looking at him. Trying to make sure that it’s what he wanted. That he wasn’t just doing what I wanted. “Go pack up and we can make it home in time for bed.”
“Louis.”
“I miss him, too.” His words were quiet, but I knew that he was being honest. That he did miss our mate.
