Happy Surprise

It's been 6 months since they went out. Lara dan Daniel currently lived together in a small studio at Midpoint Plaza. It was Daniel's idea for them to live together. They can spend most of their time together if Daniel was off duty. They're no longer having a hard time to say goodbyes after a date.

Lara loved it that way. Every morning, she will wake up with the sight of Daniel next to her. She felt safe whenever he's around. His warmth hugs and soft kisses greeted her every morning.

Daniel also being thankful to Lara for agreed with his idea. He's afraid if Lara thought that was too fast for them, moving forward in their relationship. Thankfully, nothing of that happened.

That morning, both of them slept in as yesterday, they bing-watched Harry Potter series.

The sunlights permeated the bedroom through the curtain. Lara's eyes squinted due to lights when she woke up. She saw Daniel were still asleep. She smiled like it was one of the best blessing waking up everyday.

She grabbed her phone at the bed side when Daniel pulled her back into his arms. He can clearly smell a sweet-smelling scent from Lara's hair. Her scent intoxicated him. He closed his eyes to savor that moment. Lara chuckled when Daniel did that.

"Morning" said Lara. Daniel grinned and showed off both his dimple. His eyes still closed.

"Don't we need to wake up? It's almost noon" Lara tried to wake Daniel up. Daniel shakes his body as he refused to wake up. He wanted to stay this way for a longer time.

"Remember we have to go to Aunt Linda's at 4?" Aunt Linda invited them for a dinner that day. She also mentioned about a surprise she wanted to show them.

Daniel carefully positioned Lara on top of him in a single move. He slowly opened his eyes when Lara's eyes welcomed his. Daniel softly smoothing Lara's hair caressingly over her eyes.

"Thank you for waking up besides me" his warm gazed comforted Lara down to her heart.

"Everytime I wake up in the morning and look at you, I think I am the luckiest man alive" Daniel affectionately greeted Lara with his smile.

"Me too. Waking up next to you is the most anticipated things that I look forward every night before I go to sleep" Lara rested her head Daniel's chest and she can feel Daniel's heartbeat.

Daniel tightened his hug and silently promised to never let this woman go.

Lara and Daniel arrived at Linda's house that evening. Linda greeted both of them with hugs. She's happy to see them at her home.

"How you guys been doing lately? I missed both of you" Linda truly missed seeing them at her shop.

"I'm sorry Aunt Linda. We've been very busy lately. We will come by often later" said Daniel.

They chatted, tried to keep updated on each other live. Linda knew that Lara and Daniel lived together now. She always prays for their happiness together.

"Aunt Linda, what's the surprise you want to show us?" Lara asked since that's one of the reason Linda invited them for a dinner.

"Just wait until dinner. I'm sure both of you will be surprised" Linda guaranteed it will be the biggest surprise for them.

It'll be dinner time soon and Lara helped Linda set the table with plates and glasses.

"Lara, please add one more plate and glass yaa" said Linda while she stirred the mushroom soup in the pot.

"Someone else are coming, Aunt Linda?" Lara was not informed that there is someone will join them for dinner.

Linda smiled as she were hiding something.

Three of them waited at the dining table. There's one empty spot.

"Are we waiting for someone, aunt Linda?" Daniel's question suddely being interupted with a sound of door bell.

Linda quickly went to the front door and invited someone in.

Both Lara and Daniel heard a man voice.

"Guys, let me introduce you to Jeremy. Jeremy, this is my nephew, Daniel and this is Lara, his girlfriend"

Jeremy shook hand with both of them. He looked like a middle age gentlemen with a kind smile. He got some gray hairs but it didn't make him looked old.

Jeremy took the empty spot at the dining table.

"So this is your surprise, aunt Linda?" Daniel can sense what's going on between his aunt and Jeremy.

Linda lowered her head and smiled shyly. Just like a young lady being asked for a first date.

"Daniel, Linda had told me so much about you. How you've been there at the lowest point of her life. How you keep on couraged her after Peter's death" Jeremy expressed his gratitude to Daniel for always stay by Linda's side. Lara noticed a tears forming on Linda's eyes.

"And now, I want to be the one who's responsible for her happiness and her sadness. So that you can focus on who is more deserves for your attention" Jeremy held Linda's hand on the table.

Daniel take a look at Lara, with a smile on his face. Lara slightly nodded her head. She saw how happy Daniel were when someone finally can take care of his aunt just like how his late Uncle Peter did.

"Daniel, you're like a son of mine. So before anything I do, I want to get an approval from you first. Just say it if you don't agree with this" Linda petted Daniel's head and brushed his cheek.

"As long you are happy, Aunt Linda, I will always have your back. Jeremy, thank you for making my aunt feels loved again. Just remember one thing, I'll come for you if you let her cry" Daniel jokingly threatened Jeremy made them laughed out loud.

After dinner, they gathered at the living room, watching an old classic, The Godfather. Linda brought a plate of fruits.

"Where you guys will celebrate Christmas this year?" asked Linda after took a seat next to Jeremy.

"We planned to celebrate the Christmas Eve at Lara's. The next day, we will come over to celebrate it with you" Daniel confirmed with Linda their plans. He and Lara had discussion on this and decided it that way since Christmas will come next month.

"Great. Then we will have a feast that day. Make sure you come by" Linda was happy since they included her in their plans.

Lara and Daniel excused themselves for the night after they said goodbye to Linda and Jeremy.

On the way back, they were listened to Snow Patrol's. Daniel's eyes focused on the road. His right hand on the wheel while his left holding Lara's hand.

"What do you think of Jeremy?" Lara wanted to know Daniel's first impression of Jeremy.

"Not that bad. But it's too early to judge" Daniel don't see anything wrong with Jeremy and he can see how much Jeremy loves his aunt. But he still held his suspicion.

"Why? I think they looked good together" Lara said her opinion on that couple.

"Yes but Aunt Linda just knew him not that long. We still have to wait" Daniel still focused on the road.

"That's the same case for us. Remember you kissed me on our very first date?" Lara's chuckled when she remembered on that day. They just got to know each other for 3 hours and went straight to a kiss.

"Hey, that's not fair. Plus, I knew right away that you're the one. I don't want to drag things and just wanted to claim you are mine. I needed to shut my other competitors" Daniel tried to rationalise his action.

"That's why I love you. You don't hesitates and know what you want" Lara brought Daniel's left hand to her lips and planted a kiss on the top of his hand.

Daniel took a glance at Lara and smiled.
