Forgive Me

Daniel just stand there, looking at Lara's back as she walked away from the crowd. He wanted to run to her and comforted her with a hug. But his feet stucked or maybe he don't dared to. Daniel cursed himself for doing nothing.

"Do you see that? Who do she think she is?" Carl clenched his fist. Not in his dictionary for being humiliated in public by a woman. He always enjoyed being chased and worshipped by women. But not that one.

Daniel silently stand there while listening to Carl's frustration curses to Lara. If he's not himself right now, he wanted to fly his fist to Carl's sculpture face.

The crowd seemed to disburse bit by bit. Maybe they don't want to be Carl's victim. People knows how cruel Carl can be if he mad.

Once, Carl asked an old lady to clean his shoes because she spilled the milk that she carried. At the end, Carl threw away the shoes.

Lara slammed the door and bursted in tears. One, because her hardwork turns into pieces of glasses. Two, she feels she being deceived by Daniel. How stupid is she to easily gave her heart to a man, who she only met twice. On top of that, they kissed. Her first kissed. She didn't know the feelings of being deceived can be this hurts.

"Lara? Are you okay dear? Do you want to talk?" Madison knocked on her daughter's room door. She shocked when Lara back with tears. She thought Lara was going with Joy this morning. Madison knew it wasn't Joy's fault that her daughter burst into tears. She also don't see Joy's car outside the house.

Lara ignored her mother. She wanted to be alone. To organise her thought. To define who Daniel actually is. Until she felt asleep in tears.

Buzz! Buzz!

Her phone buzzing cause Lara to wake up. She opened it and a text from Daniel.

'Are you okay? I tried to call you but no answer. Please text me back if you read this. I can explain everything'

"Liars" Lara didn't text Daniel back. She threw her phone away.

Lara woke up and walked to bathroom. She saw herself in the mirror. Her eyes so puffy from the crying.

'Wow. This is what I get from a heart broken? A puffy face, red eyes? And why people going through this?'

She washed her face to refresh herself.

'Knock! Knock'

Lara opened the door and saw her mom standing there with a tray of dinner. She let mom in.

Madison gently brushed her daughter's head. She can see Lara's crying from her eyes.

"What's wrong dear? Do you want to talk?" Madison softly talked to Lara. She knows Lara's hurting right now.

No answer. Lara just facing down.

"You know what? I always fought with your dad. Sometimes over trivial things" said Madison.

"But why we still can stick together? Because of trusts. We trusts each other" Lara finally faced her mom.

"If it's something gone wrong between you and Daniel, I want you to listen to what he wants to say first. Then you decide" suggested Madison. It's her first time to see Lara being so heart broken over guy. Her daughter have to experience these things in her life.

"But mom, what if I can't trust him?"

"Really? Because from what I see, he is a trustworthy man. Or else, why he still waiting outside to talk to you?" Madison's remarked cause Lara to jump from her bed to the window. She can see a black Mustang parked outside her house. That's Danial's.

"How long he's been there?" Lara asked Madison.

"An hour after you came home until now"

Lara's counting in her head.

'It's being 6 hours'

Lara looked again and her face showed she is worried.

"Do you want to see him?" Madison slightly 'pushed' her daughter. It to give her some courage.

Lara stepped outside with a black hoodie jacket and jeans. She wears the hoodie over her head because she don't want Daniel to see her puffy eyes.

Noticing Lara's walking to his car, Daniel quickly out from his car and walked towards Lara. Even she tries to hide it, Daniel can see Lara was crying. His heart stings as the woman he loves hurting. When they're closed enough, Daniel pulled Lara into his arms. No reaction from Lara.

"Why you are here?" Lara sounded so cold. Daniel shocked with Lara's coldness. He lets Lara go and creates a gap between them.

Lara avoided to look at Daniel right in the eyes.

"Lara, look. I... I want to explain everything" Eventhough he seems hesitated, but Daniel feels he needed to sort things out with Lara.

"Then speak" Lara's eyes seems disgusted with Daniel, like he is some strangers to her.

"Not here. If you want to come, I'll bring you to one place. I'll explain everything there"

Don't know why, Lara walked and get into car and sat on passenger seat. Daniel started the engine and drives away.

The situation inside the car was suffocating for Lara. In her head, there are 101 questions and possibilities on what Daniel will say.

In no time, the car was stopped and Lara saw the abandoned themepark, located at the end of the town. Lara looked at Daniel, who already out of the car.

'Good Daniel. This is a 'nice' place to explain things' Lara sarcastically Daniel's choice.

Lara also stepped out of the car.

"Come, let me show you something" said Daniel as he held Lara's hand. Daniel's grip is so firm and comforting. Lara unconciously walked with Daniel to the theme park. Daniel walked to a box, which Lara believed a fuse box. When Daniel turned some switches, the whole place was light up with lights.

From outside, it's obviously being abandoned for quiet a time. The last time Lara was here when she was 7. Then the themepark announced to close for good. All the rides seems creepy. If there is no light, Lara won't even dare to step inside.

They walked to a ferris wheel. Daniel led Lara to come with him to a non-function ferris wheel. Like before, Daniel did some technical things to a box and out of sudden, the ferris wheel started to operate.

Lara's eyes can't believe what she saw. She looked at Daniel in awe. Daniel smiled, showing his dimple that Lara misses the most.

They hopped into one of the gondolas. At first, Lara seemed hesitated as she afraid something will happen if they ride this old ferris wheel. But Daniel assured her.

The ferris wheel started to rotate and they slowly went up. They clearly can see the town from the top of ferris wheel. Lara momentarily forgot why she's here. She enjoyed the scene, with small lights from the town street that looks like fireflies.

Bring back to reality, Lara looked at Daniel. She can see Daniel currently at his lowest. No more 'confident' Daniel, who once kissed her right after their first date. He takes time to speak.

"I'm sorry about what happened today, at the mall"

"If it's because I fell, that's not your fault" Lara will really get dissapointed if that's the reason why he asked for forgiveness.

Daniel shakes his head.

"I'm sorry for not able to tell you the truth. I'm sorry for not standing up for you. And I'm sorry for not running to you after you walked away"

Daniel touched Lara's cheek as he sigh. How to stupid he is for not telling everything to Lara. He gambled their relationship for a pledged he made.

Lara touched Daniel's hand and held it tight. Their eyes met. Now, her eyes full of love for Daniel. No more icy cold treatment.

"What's the thing that you can't tell me?"

"Remember when I said I was a 'sidekick'? Lara's nodded. That also the reasons why Daniel have to leave for Italy.

"Another word for it is I'm a royal personal guard" Daniel explained. Since he was a teenager, he being trained to be a royal guard, who protect the monarch and the royal family.

"And that's why you can't tell me? For royal's confidential?"

Daniel nodded. When he was assigned, they make sure that every royal guard took a pledge for not being in a relationship and fully focused on protecting the royal. Being in a relationship could harm them neglected their duties.

Lara wanted to curse herself for not giving Daniel chances to explain things to her. All she knows is her feeling. That's only matter. She forgot Daniel also a human with secrets.

"Then, what about Italy?" Lara asked.

Daniel smiled as he already expect this question will be asked by Lara.

"I was really going to Italy. I just got back yesterday. And I don't expect to see you today at the mall. I want to surprise you with all of these but plans changed. I'm the one who gets surprised to see you there"

Both laughed as things finally straightened out. All doubts just fly away.

"It's good surprise though. How do you do all this? I mean, this old guy can even rotate. And the lights... It's so beautiful" said Lara as she enjoyed the view with her head on Daniel's shoulder. Her head fits Daniel's broad shoulder as it was made for her.

"Every time I was off duty, I'll be spending my time here. I did some works. Uncle Patrick and his son, Will, helped me a lot. It's hard but I have to do this because in my mind, I wanted to show this to my beloved one"

Lara positioned herself, facing Daniel. His eyes gleaming like stars in the sky.

"Lara, thank you for coming to my life. Thank you for not giving me any warning for conquering my heart. I may not be perfect but you perfected me. I love you"

"I love you too and I'm sorry for doubting you" A tear ran down Lara's cheek. Only God knows how much love she have for this man. If universe are infinite, so does her love.

Daniel wiped Lara's tear with his thumb. Then he leaned and kissed Lara, softly. The smell of her scent like a fresh vanila bean enticed him. Lara parted her lips and felt Daniel washing over like a wave of warmth.

Her whole body tingled. The feel of his frame leaning on hers as his arms wrapped around her felt forbidden. By the time Lara realised, her fingers already slipped under his shirt. She can feel his abs hardened by her touch.

Daniel stopped for awhile to find Lara's eyes. Both breathing heavily as things get intensed.

"We should get down from here first. This 'old guy' is not that durable for us" said Daniel. Lara's chuckles as she remembered where they were right now.
