Toxic Obsession

Daniel stared blankly to the window. He had class on Military Law. He was reminded to his conversation with Lara last night.

"Dan, guess what? I'm going to London this weekend" Lara told him. However, Daniel can hear uneasiness in Lara's voice but he just let it go. Maybe just his feelings.

"Really? How's job?" Daniel excitedly asked Lara. It's been six month since they last met.

"I already applied leaves and it's for a week so that I can spend more time with you"

"Then I'll pick you up at the airport. Good night, Lara" Daniel ended the call with a smooch.

"Hey, anything's on your mind, Cap?" one of the fellow soldier, Nate, took a seat next to Daniel.

Daniel back to the reality and shakes his head.

"Missing your love ones, ah?" Nate jokingly teased Daniel.

Daniel smiled slightly. He rubbed his neck out of embarassment.

Joy sat on the bed while Lara walked back and forth to pack her bag. She was shocked when Lara told her that she wants to meet Daniel in London this weekend.

"Why do you suddenly want to go to London?" Joy asked while Lara still busy arranged her stuffs.

"What do you mean suddenly? I already planned this for a while and it's the right time to go" Lara folded her clothes and put inside the luggage.

"Have you told Daniel?"

"Of course I have. He's sounded happy when I told him. He must be missed me so much" Lara packed her shoes and went to the bathroom to pack all her essentials.

Joy felt something must be happened. She grabbed Lara's arm and pulled Lara to sit next her on the bed. Joy looked into Lara's eyes.

"Is there something bad happened to you?" Joy asked with a concerned looks.

"Nothing. I'm totally fine. Why do you said that?" Lara lightly tapped Joy's thigh. She faked her smile to hide about her feelings.

Joy held Lara's hand into hers.

"I am your bestfriend and I know the looks on your face when you want to run away" Joy paused before continues.

"If it's something that you can't tell me, I'm okay with it. I just want you to know that I'll always have your back. Not anyone or anything can hurt you as long as I'm here" Joy pulled Lara into a hug. She gently patted Lara's back to give her courage.

Lara was touched with Joy's words. Without knowing, she shed tears on Joy's shoulder. What she's going to do if Joy was not here for her?

Lara ran to Daniel when she saw him waited at the arrival gate. She jumped into Daniel's arms. Daniel too, lifted Lara and hugged her tightly. How they missed each other. He put her down and took a clear look at her face.

"I miss you so much. Even when you're in front of me, I still miss you" Daniel brushed Lara's cheek softly. Lara tiptoed to kiss Daniel at his cheek.

Daniel helped Lara with her luggage and drove to his apartment. Lara's eyes were filled with the all buildings and tourist attraction along the way. Finally, she felt she was really in London.

Daniel parked his car in front of an apartment and carried Lara's luggage inside.

Inside, they met with Daniel's neighbor, Ms Fletcher. She also the house owner that Daniel rented.

"So you're Lara" Ms Fletcher greeted her with open arms. Lara looked at Daniel in confusion.

"This young man always told me about you. He said I'll immediately recognised you from your gray eyes. I can see why" Daniel smiled as he was embarassed when Ms Fletcher said that.

After that, Daniel welcomed Lara into his apartment. It was a one bedroom apartment with an open kitchen. It has big windows so the entire apartment were filled with sunlight.

Daniel pulled Lara to sit on the couch. Lara smiled affectionately at Daniel.

"I'm so happy for you to be here, babe" Daniel tucked Lara's hair behind her ear.

"So am I. I've planned to come here for a while and finally I'm here"

"But I must have to say that I'm sorry if I can't to be with you for most of the time. With all the trainings and classes. I'm afraid you'll be bored" In him being happy with Lara's presence, he felt guilty that he can't spend time with her.

"It's okay. I just want to here, closer to you. In the meantime, I can explore the city when you're not around. I can manage myself" Lara patted the back of Daniel's hand, assured him that she's fine.

Daniel felt relieved when Lara said that. He pulled her in between his arms and hugged her tight.

Lara felt comforted with Daniel's embrace. He's the one she love and no one else can replace Daniel.

Carl rushed into an office without knocking and saw shocked Joy, sat at her place.

Joy stood up because she was startled with Carl being there.

"Hey Carl. What are you doing here?" asked Joy.

"Where is Lara?" Carl asked anxiously.

Joy was not answering Carl's question right away. She was confused what had happened? Why would Carl searched for Lara in this manner?

"What's wrong? Is there anything happens?"

"Where's Lara?" Carl yelled unconciously. He ran his fingers on his messed hair. Joy stepped back because she was scared to see Carl like that.

"She's in London. Yesterday was her flight. She didn't tell you?" Without answering Joy's question, Carl walked out from the office, left Joy speechless.

Carl enter his car and started banging at steering wheel.

Yesterday he met with Charlotte at her penthouse. He wanted to sort everything out with her. He needed to set boundaries for Charlotte not to cross over.

"Hi babe" Charlotte welcomed him with a hug around his neck. He can smell scotch from her breath. He lightly pushed slightly drunk Charlotte to the side.

Carl took a seat on the couch. Charlotte sat next to him.

"I want you to stop following me around. I don't love you. I just see you as my little sister. Not more than that" Carl coldly speaks his mind. He wanted to straight things out with Charlotte so that the incident before will not repeat again.

Charlotte suddenly sober up when she heard that. Then, she started to chuckle and let out a loud laugh.

"Sister? When you promised to marry me when we were 10? That's so funny, Carl" Charlotte can't contain her laugh. She took a sip from her glass.

"Why do you take it seriously? We are adult now. And I love someone else" Carl didn't expect for Charlotte to take his promise that he made when he was 10 seriously.

"That b***h? What's her name again? Haa... Lara... She should know her place before she pursued you" Charlotte's blood started to boil when Lara's name was mentioned.

"Don't talk about her like that. And I come here to tell you to stay away from my life"

Carl warned Charlotte.

"Hahahaha.... I can't do that and babe, you can't threat me. Do you want to see what I capable to do to that pretty face of her? I can do anything to her from a single call" Charlotte sneered at Carl.

Carl pushed Charlotte down against the couch. He choke Charlotte at her neck. Anger flooded his vein. His eyes turned red while looked at Charlotte gasped for air.

"If you touch a single hair from Lara's body, I swear I will kill in ways that you've never imagine. My patience isn't limitless" Carl let go of Charlotte and walked out from her penthouse. Charlotte touched her neck and gasped for air. Her chest moved up and down.

She threw the whiskey glass towards Carl. She screamed like a mad woman. The man she devoted herself for just choke her because of other woman.
