A Heavy Blow

It's been two months since Lara become Carl's financial advisor. To her surprise, Carl became benefactor for a lot charity organisation including Woodland Nursing Centre. It's a new side of Carl that Lara came to know throughout their friendship.

In these two months, she also managed all financial matters for Carl. He is a royal indeed with many assets and shares under his name. However, these assets were acquired by Carl himself, not under royal family.

Lara also becoming more comfortable with Carl. He likes to jokes around and that's make him more likeable.

That day, Carl invited Lara to his private clubhouse, next to Redmont Palace. Carl wanted to discuss on the new project that he wanted to invest and he wanted Lara to assess the profitability of the project before he invest into it.

Carl spreaded the relevant documents on the table for Lara to see. "Here are all documents for that project. All from budgets, the blueprint and the list of contractors" Carl explained to make it easy for Lara. Lara nodded while her eyes fixed to the documents.

Carl took a look at Lara while she concentrated to assess the documents. He love the looks of Lara when she focused on something. How she tried her best on everything she do.

A maid served plates of cakes and snacks on the table. There also tea.

"Stop what are you doing and come join me for tea" Carl stopped Lara from working and joined him.

"It's okay. You can have it first. I need to focus right now" said Lara without looking at Carl. Carl let a small sigh with her stubborness.

Carl took a small plate and filled it with some snacks. He brought it closer to Lara so she can enjoyed while she's working. Suddenly, Carl had an idea.

He took a piece of cakes with a fork and brought it to Lara's mouth. Unexpectedly, Lara opened her mouth to eat the cake. Carl smiled as he's delighted that Lara naturally ate the cake. He continued to do so until the cake was finished.

Of course, rainbow was not going to last forever, when Charlotte suddenly grabbed Lara's hair from her back. It made Lara stood from her seat.

Carl managed to act quickly and separated those two. He glared at Charlotte.

"What are you doing?" Carl shouted at Charlotte. No one can touch or hurt Lara. No one. He looked at Lara to make sure that she's fine.

Charlotte scoffed when Carl showed that he cared for Lara. Her blood started to boil.

"You should ask yourself, what are you guys doing? Hey b***h, don't you realise your true place?" Charlotte mocked at Lara. In her eyes, Lara just one of the b***h that goes after Carl.

"Stop it, Char. Enough. She's not what you think she is" Carl tried to cool her down. Maybe Charlotte can be more rationale if he talked to her softly.

"Then, tell me what she is? Do you love her?" Charlotte's question made Carl speechless. He looked at Lara, who's head down. She completely baffled of what was happened.

"You can't tell me huh? She's only a mistress then" Charlotte crossed her arms with a mocked pose.

"I do... love her" Carl's confession echoed the entire space. Lara looked so confused with Carl's sudden confession. She looked at Carl's eyes, looking for explanation.

"I love you, Lara" Carl looked straight into Lara's eyes. This was not he had planned on how to confess to Lara but things happened.

Hearing to that, Charlotte charged toward Lara and hit Lara with her bag. There was a scratch on her left cheek.

Carl pushed Charlotte instinctively. He checked Lara's face. He felt sorry for her. All this happened because of him.

Lara softly pushed Carl's hand off her face. She fixed her hair and faced with mad Charlotte.

"I'm sorry if you feel there's something between me and Carl but I guarantee you there's nothing between us" She spoke with calm even after those chaos.

"I worked as Carl's advisor and you may have misunderstanding on that. I totally understand that" She took a breathe and continues.

"As for Carl's confession just now, just take it as an empty confession because I've already have a boyfriend and I'm loyal to him. I promised you that I will never meet with Carl again in the future" She finished her words and walked away after she took her bag. She doesn't even wanted to turn back. Her business there was over.

Carl can't believe what just happened. All his plans blew off just like that. His eyes followed Lara's steps until she dissapeared from the door. He even can't bring himself to run after her after all the words came from her mouth.

"Looks like someone just get dumped" Charlotte mocked Carl as she's satisfied of the situation. Now, no one can snatch Carl from her.
