Being dragged off, I give a last look at Mer. Her worried expression disappears out of my view, as the crowd obstructs my view. I try to wriggle out of the soldier’s grasp on my arm. Only for him to tighten it further. “You will be well taken care of in the castle. Nothing to worry about. Anything is better than down there.” His malicious crooked smile formed by his cracked lips makes me shift in my own skin. I prefer anything else, like a donkey I put my feet down, trying to find a hold of the cobble stones.
