When I glanced at my door, I saw mom walking inside my room as she sat down on my bed. She watched me packing my things tomorrow as I suddenly misremembered telling her what my plans were for the next day.
"Mom," I called out her name, and she only smiled at me as she waited for me to continue, "Callie and I would go for a hike tomorrow morning, including her big brother Kean," I told her.
"Sure, darling. Make sure to enjoy your stay here, okay? Don't think of us too much here," Mom said in her soft voice, which suddenly gives me comfort.
