The announcement rang out in the indoor swimming arena, sending parents and their kids shuffling about as they hurried to their places.
"Will you be there to race with me after?" Asher asked for the umpteenth time. It was the annual swimming competition at their school, and having Adrian around this year had got him extra excited.
And just like with all the times before, Adrian's response remained enthusiastic and assuring.
"I won't only be there to race, but I'll be right here with your mom, cheering you on the entire time." He lifted his hand for a high five.
